Global Contractor H&S Manager - Decatur, IL
Position Summary:
This role presents an outstanding opportunity to shape and advance ADM's global commitment to a safe, reliable, and sustainable workplace. The Global Contractor Health & Safety Manager provides strategic direction and oversight for ADM's worldwide contractor safety management program, ensuring consistent implementation of standards, governance, and performance excellence across all regions. Acting as a key liaison among leadership, site management, cross-functional teams, and contractors, this leader drives a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement in contractor performance. Through strategic influence, collaboration, and accountability, the Global Contractor Health & Safety Manager strengthens risk management, supports operational reliability, and helps position ADM as an industry leader in contractor safety excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Program Oversight & Continuous Improvement
    • Responsible for ensuring strong contractor safety performance by implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving the corporate contractor safety management program.
    • Utilize data and analytics to identify trends and drive proactive risk reduction strategies.
    • Benchmark and implement industry best practices to enhance contractor safety performance.
    • Establish and maintain a regional network to ensure consistent communication and implementation of contractor safety programs across ADM.
    • Partner with Procurement to ensure full implementation and utilization of the Global Contractor Management System (ISNetworld).
    • Lead or co-lead contractor safety steering committee for continuous improvement.
    • Oversee contractor EHS prequalification, onboarding, and performance evaluation processes to ensure alignment with corporate EHS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    • Develop and implement compliance strategies to strengthen contractor oversight across business units and capital projects.
    • Conduct and/or oversee audits, inspections, and assessments of contractor activities to ensure compliance with ADM and regulatory safety requirements.
    • Manage external audit findings and coordinate corrective actions to address compliance opportunities.
    • Participate in or lead Serious Incident Investigations (SII) related to contractor Serious or Potentially Serious Incidents/Fatalities (SIF/PSIF).
    • Collaborate with Procurement, Legal, and Operations to embed contractor safety requirements into contracts, bids, and project planning.
    • Track, analyze, and report on contractor safety performance metrics; develop and implement improvement plans as needed.
    • Partner with Global EHS Audit (GEHSA) and site teams to enhance contractor EHS performance and support consistent program execution.
  • Training & Communication
    • Maintain the Contractor Safety SharePoint to ensure timely and accurate sharing of information.
    • Partner with Learning & Development to design and deliver training for ADM stakeholders and contractors on corporate safety expectations and orientation programs.
    • Prepare and present reports, dashboards, and presentations on contractor safety performance, trends, and improvement initiatives to leadership.
    • Communicate program updates, best practices, and lessons learned across the organization to strengthen safety culture and engagement.
    • Travel as needed to ADM locations to support program implementation, training, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive safety management experience, including at least 3 years in contractor or construction safety oversight.
    • Experience in multi-site or corporate-level safety management preferred.
  • Certifications:
    • CSP, CHST, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • Knowledge & Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of governmental and other applicable safety requirements.
    • Proven ability to assess risk, conduct audits, and implement corrective actions.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in safety management systems, contractor management software, and data analytics tools.
    • Ability to travel up to 50% as needed.

  • Office and field environments; may require visits to industrial, construction, or operational sites.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE and comply with site safety requirements.
