Job description

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Administrator - Manufacturing
Memphis, TN | Manufacturing | Up to $90,000

A well-established manufacturing company in Memphis is seeking an experienced Senior Safety & Environmental Administrator to lead safety and environmental initiatives at its manufacturing facility.

This is a highly visible, hands-on position for an EHS professional who enjoys being out on the manufacturing floor, working directly with employees and leadership, identifying risks, and driving a strong culture of safety and accountability.

The ideal candidate combines strong knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations with the leadership presence and communication skills necessary to influence employees at all levels of the organization. This is more than a compliance and paperwork role—we're looking for someone who can take ownership, lead initiatives, address safety concerns directly, and drive change.

  • Lead and promote safety and environmental initiatives throughout the manufacturing facility
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA and applicable federal, state, and environmental regulations
  • Identify workplace hazards and recommend practical corrective and preventive actions
  • Partner with plant leadership, supervisors, and employees to improve safety performance and strengthen the facility's safety culture
  • Conduct facility safety inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, and root-cause analyses
  • Ensure compliance involving chemical storage, material handling, fire prevention systems, and other plant safety requirements
  • Drive corrective actions when safety or environmental standards are not being met
  • Support and manage the facility's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
  • Develop and coordinate employee safety training
  • Conduct ergonomic and workplace assessments
  • Maintain required OSHA, environmental, safety, and regulatory documentation and records
  • Review and update existing safety policies, procedures, and programs
  • Serve as a visible safety resource and advocate throughout the manufacturing operation

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered
  • 4+ years of progressive EHS/safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards
  • Experience with environmental compliance in an industrial setting
  • Demonstrated ability to lead safety initiatives and influence employees and management
  • Comfortable addressing non-compliance and holding others accountable to established safety standards
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build credibility on the manufacturing floor
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and regulatory recordkeeping skills
  • Experience with ISO 14001 / Environmental Management Systems strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word

We're looking for someone who can balance the technical, administrative, and leadership sides of EHS. You'll need to be comfortable managing regulatory documentation and maintaining policies, but equally comfortable walking the plant floor, engaging employees, coaching supervisors, addressing unsafe conditions, and leading safety improvements.

This position is ideal for an experienced EHS Specialist, Senior EHS Specialist, Safety Manager, EHS Supervisor, EHS Manager, Safety & Environmental Specialist, or EHS Engineer who enjoys taking ownership and wants to make a visible impact within a manufacturing operation.

Compensation
Up to $90,000, depending on experience, education, training, and certifications. Additional incentive compensation may also be available.
