The Technician I performs entry level, semi-skilled, technical support research work involving performance of routine tasks. Helps with and conducts experimental studies in the research lab including EEG recording and analysis, temporo-spatial progression of seizures, and behavioral patterns. Assists senior research staff with advancing experimental studies and support with the neural techniques.

Location/Schedule: Bryan, TX/Part-Time; May required work beyond normal hours on weekends.

Required Education and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of experience in lab work or related areas.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment.

  • Ensure attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in biological or biomedical sciences or neuroscience.

  • Working experience in a neuroscience EEG research lab; knowledge of advanced brain EEG software; experimental neural techniques and analysis; behavioral studies and interpretation; stereology and histology knowledge; pharmacological studies and data compilation experience in a research lab.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Experience working with individuals and communities.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret brain EEG recording, analysis and pattern formations.

  • Ability to organize, conduct and report pharmacological studies and experiments.

  • Experience working with EEG studies, data compilation and analysis.

  • Ability to read temporo-spatial progression of seizures, and behavioral patterns.

  • Ability to help research staff with advancing experimental studies and support with the neural techniques.

Responsibilities:

Research and Analysis

  • Assists and performs experiments procedures involving brain EEG recording.

  • Assists with neuroscience EEG analysis studies.

  • Assists with performing technical operations relevant to specialized electrodes and EEG tools.

  • Assists personnel involved in a series of stereology and histology studies.

  • Assists and performs pharmacological studies and data compilation in the lab.

  • Makes and records of behavioral observations and EEG recording traces.

  • Uses computer equipment for controlling equipment and compiling data.

Publication and Lab Management

  • Writes and edits for publication scientific materials requiring academic knowledge.

  • Orders scientific supplies and equipment.

  • Ensure attention to detail.
