Job description

The role is for an Out of School Care Educator (up to 26 hours per week ). This position is a Split Shift (Early Mornings and Afternoons) and additional Straight-through hours on PD days, in our 1st Class locations in the Deep SE of Calgary.


Job Description

The Educator provides the necessary support, resources, and supervision to ensure the provision of nurturing care and education to young children in a group setting, in accordance with the goals and curriculum plans of the program, with the philosophy and policies of 1st Class and in strict compliance with Alberta Childcare Licensing Act.


The Educator reports to the Assistant Location Director and Location Director.


Duties and Responsibilities


• Works with and supports the Directors to ensure and facilitate the smooth functioning of all aspects of the program in order to best serve the children and families
• Ensures licensing requirements are met at all times
• Contributes ideas based on thoughtful and insightful knowledge of the children towards planning
• Ensures all materials and supplies are stocked and organized upon delivery
• Develops and maintains positive relationships and regular communication with parents
• Ensures program spaces are clean and organized at all times
• Ensures they know the number of children in the program at all times as well as their names and details of their interests and important family unit information
• Ensures all toys and materials are clean, maintained and developmentally appropriate at all times, reports any deficiencies to Assistant Location Director
• Performs other related duties as requested by the management team


Qualifications


• Must have a flexible schedule and be available for all hours that the program is open and be available to cover shifts within the program
• Must have a minimum Child Development Assistant Certificate or be able to complete in 2months after hire. 
• Must have up to date Police Clearance (or able to complete immediately upon hire)
• Must have valid CPR and First Aid Certificate (or able to complete upon hire)
