Job description

About Stepful:
Stepful is a workforce platform redefining how America's largest health systems build, train, and retain their talent. Since our founding in 2021, Stepful's trained over 32,000 practice-ready healthcare workers.
Layering onto our successful direct-to-consumer training, Stepful partners with leading healthcare institutions to address the growing national shortage of healthcare workers. We're improving access to quality healthcare for everyone, everywhere, and improving access to healthcare career ladders for those who need them most.
Our students form the talent pipelines for major employers such as NY-Presbyterian, Mt. Sinai, HCA, Providence, CVS, and Walgreens. We have partnerships with half of the top 10 health systems in the US and are in process with many more.
Stepful is backed by Y Combinator, Reach Capital, and AlleyCorp, with a recent $55M Series C led by Oak HC/FT. We were named the #1 EdTech company in the U.S. by TIME for 2025.
Our values:
We credit much of our success to our exceptional team. We're looking for mission-driven builders who thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, and embody our four core values:
  • Care first: We do whatever it takes for our students to succeed.
  • Learn quickly: We test, learn with data, and iterate.
  • Build together: We win when we rely on each other.
  • Own it: We show up, take initiative, and show pride.

The opportunity:
We are seeking experienced Travel Clinical Educators to support Stepful's in-person Surgical Technology program at employer partner sites across the United States. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, hands-on clinical and skills lab instruction, supporting student remediation, and helping students build the confidence and competencies needed for successful clinical performance and NCCT certification outcomes.
Stepful's Surgical Technology program is designed to support students every step of the way, from certification preparation to launching successful careers in the surgical services field.
The initial cohort assignment will take place at our employer partner site in the Daytona Beach, Florida area beginning in mid-October. This onsite assignment runs for 11 weeks, with instruction taking place Monday through Thursday from 7am to 2pm EST. Additional opportunities to support future cohorts in other locations across the U.S. may also be available.
This is a 1099 contract role requiring onsite instruction for the duration of each cohort assignment. Instructors may support full cohort delivery or provide substitute coverage for existing programs as needed. Candidates should be local to the assignment location or willing to travel for the duration of the cohort. Travel, lodging, and per diem support are provided for instructors traveling to program sites.
What you'll do:
  • Teach hands-on skills to students in an in-person lab setting
  • Demonstrate proper technique for a given skill and provide live step by step tasks for students to perform
  • Assess students' lab and clinical competency for skills and provide feedback
  • Review and evaluate the required skills students must demonstrate
  • Communicate regularly with students over email and other communication tools
  • Join weekly meetings to receive guidance and direction from the internal team at Stepful
  • Provide ongoing support, troubleshoot issues, and prepare and plan for future modules, as needed

What you'll bring:
  • 3+ years of experience teaching surgical technology, including course delivery, assessment, and student support
  • 3+ years of experience working as a Certified Surgical Technologist in a clinical setting
  • Active NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist or NCCT TS-C certification
  • Experience with digital tools for teaching and reading lesson plans
  • Experience teaching students of diverse backgrounds and abilities
  • Stellar writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work approximately 32 hours per week for the duration of the program

Interview Process:
  • Intro Call with Talent Team
  • Interview with Program Director
  • Case Study Assignment
  • Team Interview + Live Teaching Demo
  • Final Interview

The hourly pay rate for this opportunity is $45.00 - $50.00/hour. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, internal pay equity and other relevant business considerations.
