The annual salary for this position ranges from $58,500 (Step 0, Bachelor's) to $101,105 (Step 30+, Doctorate) based on the approved 2026-2027 school year salary scale. Please review the Teacher Scale to see where your specific education level and verified years of experience place you. Final salary placement is determined strictly by verified years of creditable experience.
$5,000 Sign-on Bonus for VDOE licensed eligible candidates for certain positions at Title I schools (2 year commitment required)!
  • Licensed/Licensed eligible teachers: Teacher scale -- commensurate with experience; starting salary $58,500 & $62,200 for masters. $5,000 sign-on bonus for licensed/licensed eligible teachers at Tittle I schools.
  • Associate(Unlicensed) Teacher with bachelors: $45,000; Associate Teachers considered based on division needs.
    POSITION DETAILS:
  • Unlicensed candidates being considered as a PK-5th grade teacher, while working on the requirements for a Virginia teaching license.
  • Position is for the remainder of the school year, with the possibility of extension based on division needs.
  • Must establish an individual licensure plan to include a timeline with the Human Resources Department and work toward meeting requirements while employed in the position.
  • Once licensure requirements are met at any time of the year, a contract promotion to the teachers salary scale will be offered.
  • Reimbursement is available for licensure requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plans and implements an instructional program that provides appropriate learning experiences for each student.
  • Collaborates within a professional learning community in order to nurture and sustain a school culture and instructional program conducive to accelerated student achievement.
  • Assesses student achievement and maintains appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting.
  • Manages the behavior of learners in the instructional setting to provide an environment that is conducive to the learning process and assists and participates in the management of student behavior in other parts of the school and school grounds.
  • Coordinates instructional activities and collaborates with other professional staff, both school and non-school based, as required to maximize learning opportunities.
  • Participates in professional development activities and other staff meetings as required or assigned.
  • Provides continuous communication with parents, both written and oral, to keep them informed of their child's progress.
  • Communicates with students, parents, professionals, and support personnel in and outside the school to share information and to support/encourage involvement.
  • Performs related duties as required or assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelors degree required for external candidates.
  • Successful experience working with students in a classroom setting is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and human relations skills.
  • Basic digital literacy skills and adaptability with use of classroom technology.
  • Have knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of children.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, and parents.
