THE ROLE

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Military Family Services Program Specialist will play an important role in helping military families access the child care they need to navigate the pressures of military life, whether preparing for a posting, adjusting for a deployment or facing a tight local child care market, you will help parents understand their child care options and make confident, informed decisions.

As part of the Military Family Services team, you will support national initiatives that improve access to child care for CAF families, providing clear information, available options, and timely support when it matters most. You will develop, maintain, and continuously improve a child care directory by gathering, validating, and organizing information from child care providers, community organizations, and other sources to support child care navigation services. You will collaborate closely with colleagues and community partners to build a coordinated network of support. Your work will inform broader system improvements, highlight emerging needs, and contribute to strategic outcomes that enhance the resilience of military families.

Your efforts will directly help military families balance service requirements with family responsibilities, and ensure no family navigates the child care system alone.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

College diploma or certificate in Social Science, Education, Administration, Community Development or a related field AND several years of experience in family support, social services or a related field

OTHER INFORMATION

This is a hybrid position with an assigned work location allowing the employee to work partly from a corporate office and partly from a home office in accordance with the CFMWS Flexible Work Options Policy, and with approval from the direct manager.

Interviews will be conducted virtually.

As part of the selection process, the successful candidate must successfully complete a Reliability status security screening.

This is a temporary position with an anticipated start date of August 24, 2026 and end date of October 31, 2030.
