The Education Director, National Meetings Education will be accountable for the successful operation of an ASHP member program(s) and service(s). Has responsibility for developing/maintaining work tools, processes, systems and program protocols to deliver member services and programs. Responsible for the development and execution of the Office of Professional Development and Publishing (OPDP) educational projects for pharmacists and other healthcare professionals. This is a hybrid position that requires candidates to live in the Washington, DC area and be present in the downtown Bethesda, Maryland office as needed. At ASHP, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach.  The salary range for this position is $125,000-$155,000 and ASHP offers a comprehensive benefits plan. This salary range represents a reasonable estimate of the annual salary based on ASHP's commitment to provide equitable and market-competitive pay. The actual salary offered will take into consideration many factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, educational background and licenses/certifications, skills and experience, internal pay equity, and other business and organizational needs. What You'll Be Doing
  • Develops high-quality, evidence-based educational content for live and enduring educational activities.  Responsibilities include research of subject matter; review of educational needs assessment; development of educational background, activity description, learning goals and agenda; selection of teaching methodologies; recruitment and coordination of faculty; communication and regular updates to faculty and other stakeholders.
  • Responsible for management of all aspects of Continuing Education (CE) accreditation for activities; development of activity assessments (pre and post-tests); development of educational materials; review and approve final content; measuring and analyzing educational outcomes; and development of post-meeting reports or executive summaries.
  • Ensure faculty and participant satisfaction by monitoring project results and developing solutions for prompt resolution of issues.
  • Develops, implements and manages other non-CE OPDP projects, including educational steering committee meetings, identification and recruitment of faculty, facilitators and participants; prompt communication with stakeholders and participants; and development of post-meeting reports or executive summaries.
  • Provides guidance to other National Meetings Education staff.
  • Collaborates with staff of the Sections, Forums, and other divisions to develop quality educational programs.
  • Collaborates with marketing on promotional activities and development of printed materials (e.g., brochures, handouts) on select products including review and approval of final content.
  • Assists program development staff by recommending new project ideas and developing scientific background information for educational grant proposals and other project proposals.
  • Identifies and analyzes educational needs assessment data for targeted audiences and in monitoring trends related to outcomes of educational activities.
  • Assists in the maintenance of project files to ensure all required documentation is readily accessible in compliance with Office of Professional Development and Publishing procedures and requirements of Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and other applicable accrediting bodies including timely submission of all materials/applications.
  • Collaborates with staff leadership to determine, execute and create a new program(s) and service(s). Works with various stakeholders and business partners to reach consensus or agreement on program delivery, operational policies and resource/tool needs.
  • Develops policies and procedures to achieve desired outcomes/results for their assigned work area(s).
  • Provides on-site meeting coordination and management at selected meetings as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to ASHP
  • Graduation from ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy
  • Pharmacy residency training preferred
  • Pharmacist licensure preferred
  • Board certification preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience in related project management or association management is required.
  • Minimum of five years prior experience in adult education and accreditation standards for healthcare professionals.
  • Five years of relevant pharmacy practice experience
  • Experience in authorship, peer review and publication process
  • Experience in innovative educational design and educational technologies preferred.
  • Ability to stay current on current topics in healthcare, pharmacy practice, and therapeutics.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and manage competing deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail, high level of motivation, "can do" attitude
  • Highly customer-service oriented
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • This position requires occasional domestic travel for conferences and meetings anticipated to be in the range of 3 to 5 times per year
