What you will do
Role Overview:
The Asset Management Lead will support the commercial oversight for operating and late development assets in the assigned region (between 800 and 2000 MW) and ensure all commercial and governmental obligations are met. You will plan and track asset budgets, develop market knowledge and oversee performance. You will contribute to the continued evolution of the Asset Management framework and ensure it is implemented consistently across the assigned region. Additional responsibilities will include supporting the management of commercial relationship with equipment OEMs, O&M service providers, and other project stakeholders.
Main responsibilities:
  • Plan and develop profit & loss (P&L) activities, identify gaps and provide recommendations to address
  • Lead the development of project-level annual budgets and creation of longer-term business plans in collaboration with other EDPR teams
  • Provide explanations to EDPR management, financing partners, and power off-takers regarding financial and operation performance as compared to budget
  • Update financial estimates on a quarterly basis in collaboration with the Finance team
  • Interface with Operations, Performance Management, original equipment manufacturers, and service providers on routine operational issues and on initiatives in an effort to increase operational and financial performance and reduce risk exposure
  • Perform ad-hoc analyses of the historical and forward-looking performance of the asset
  • Meet reporting obligations to financing entities by providing necessary commentary and reports as required under the company's financing obligations
  • Oversee commercial activities by giving support to commercial deals, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Renewable Energy Credit (REC) sales, and sales of ancillary services
  • Lead resolution of significant agreement issues (i.e., greater than $500k) that stem from the operation of the project (e.g., equipment warranties, landowner agreements, PPAs, financing agreements, wind forecasting, tax agreements, interconnection agreements)
  • Support the development and implementation of financing agreements as needed
  • Interface with Portfolio Management and equity partners to ensure that issues are being resolved and that the asset is operating as intended
  • Work with Asset Management staff to ensure settlement and routine reporting procedures are in place as projects become operational
  • Ensure commercial and governmental obligations are met by tracking key milestones within the major agreements (e.g., turbine supply, O&M, PPA, tax equity, landowner, and interconnection)
  • Act as the single point of contact for compiling and communicating high-level issues across the fleet to assigned turbine supplier, BESS manufacturer, or other key suppliers.
  • Notify relevant staff and help to resolve issues when milestones are delinquent or a trigger event has occurred
  • Create and develop market knowledge, becoming the resident expert in how the respective projects' electricity markets are structured
  • Communicate with various market balancing authorities as needed
  • Drive initiatives across the portfolio in an effort to improve fleet performance by facilitating solutions with input from Engineering, Operations, and Performance Analysis
  • Provide updates to, and seek approval from, EDPR NA's Executive Committee as needed based on business activities and special projects
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure that proper asset management processes and tasks are in place in order to improve overall facility performance and limit risk exposure
  • Contribute to and lead initiatives to improve and standardize asset management processes, and work to adapt processes to new technology types as necessary
  • Participate in Development and Construction meetings to ensure that operational and asset management requirements, and major contract and financing requirements, are met
  • Additional duties as required

What are we looking for
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Engineering, or a related field; MBA strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software and database development and management

Physical demands & working conditions:
  • Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
  • Walking: Ability to walk .5 to 2 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on project sites.
  • Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written verbal, diagram, or scheduled form
  • Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds
  • Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
