Job description

The Opportunity

Enigma has a unique perspective on the businesses that power the U.S. economy and a lot of interesting data to tell those stories. We're looking for a strong writer and creative thinker to help us turn our data, insights, and expertise into compelling content that builds Enigma's voice and brings our work to life.

You will help develop the ideas behind our content, not just execute against a brief. You'll identify interesting stories within our data, develop thoughtful long-form pieces and reports, and help build a consistent content engine across Enigma.

This is a contract role working closely with our GTM and Marketing teams and partnering with other teams across the company to uncover ideas, insights, and data worth sharing.

What You'll Do
  • Develop compelling, data-driven content. Turn Enigma's proprietary data, research, and internal expertise into engaging reports, articles, thought leadership, and other long-form content.
  • Generate ideas and uncover stories. Proactively identify interesting trends, insights, and angles within our data that can become differentiated content for Enigma.
  • Own the content calendar. Build and manage a thoughtful editorial calendar that balances timely opportunities, larger research pieces, company priorities, and ongoing content.
  • Write and edit across formats. Create clear, credible, and distinctly Enigma content across long-form reports, web, email, social, and other channels.
  • Build a repeatable content engine. Establish an efficient process from idea research draft review publication, while identifying opportunities to repurpose and extend strong content across channels.
We Are Looking for Someone Who
  • Is an exceptional writer and editor, with experience creating polished long-form content, reports, research, or thought leadership.
  • Has experience creating data-driven content for a technology, fintech, or B2B company, including original research or proprietary data reports, and understands how to extend great content across channels.
  • Is fluent and comfortable with data, with the ability to find compelling stories in quantitative information and translate complex findings into clear, engaging content.
  • Has strong editorial instincts and a knack for generating ideas, identifying interesting trends, angles, and stories rather than simply executing against a brief.
  • Can own the content engine end-to-end, from building and managing an editorial calendar to taking multiple pieces from concept through publication and distribution.
About Us

At Enigma, we're building the single, most reliable source of data on businesses to power the future of financial services. By engineering better data from hundreds of public and third-party sources, we aim to tell the complete story of every business, so that companies of every size can access the financial services they need to grow and thrive. Our core values - generosity, curiosity, ingenuity, & drive - guide everything we do, from how we make our most important product decisions to how we work with and support one another on a daily basis. We're a team of curious, driven individuals with diverse backgrounds and skills, but we're all passionate about engineering deeper understanding through data-together. If this resonates, we would love to hear from you!

We are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.
