What is an Edison?

Edisons are members of the General Electric (GE) Edison Engineering Development Program (EEDP), a prestigious rotational program for early-career engineers. Participants are given the opportunity to work in various engineering roles within GE, gaining hands-on experience and technical training. The program is designed to develop future technical leaders by providing challenging assignments, mentorship, and professional development. Edisons typically rotate through different projects and business units over two to three years, building a strong foundation for a career in engineering.

What are common challenges faced by Edison engineers during their rotational assignments?

Edison Engineers often encounter challenges such as quickly adapting to new technical domains, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and building rapport within new teams every few months. The fast-paced structure of the program is designed to accelerate learning, but it requires strong time-management and communication skills. Successfully navigating these challenges can lead to significant personal and professional growth, as well as exposure to a wide range of engineering disciplines and leadership opportunities.
