Job Title:MSE Post Doctoral ScholarDepartment:Engineering | Materials Science and Engineering

Performs research on metallurgical phenomena related to welding and additive manufacturing (AM) in advanced alloys and to failure mechanisms in welds and AM components of advanced alloys; applies experimentation, advanced metallurgical characterization, and computational modeling for quantification of materials properties related to weldability and printability, and for alloy development and compositional optimization of welding and AM consumables and structural alloys; prepares research results for technical reports to sponsors and for scholarly publications; prepares presentations on relevant research findings for academic and industry conferences; trains graduate and undergraduate students to perform weldability and printability evaluation, physical simulations, metallurgical characterization, and mechanical testing, and provides advice on data analysis and interpretation.

Required Education:
PhD in Welding Engineering, Materials Engineering or related field

Required Experience:

Research experience in welding and AM metallurgy, weldability, printability, and service performance evaluation, demonstrated by performing applied and fundamental research and by scholarly publications in journals, proceedings, and conference presentations.

Desired Experience:

Experience with metallurgical phenomena and failure mechanisms in welds and AM builds of advanced alloys, advanced metallurgical characterization, and computational modeling of welding and AM phenomena.
