Become a Test Technician A at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will supervise, test, inspect, repair, and adjust relays, meters and associated devices for protection and operation of lines, buses, generators, motors, transformers, and regulators for voltages up to and including 220KV. As a Test Technician A, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. Are you ready to take on the challenge to help us build the future?
Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate test instruments and equipment to perform operational testing, adjustment and calibration of generation and substation protection, measuring, controlling, and recording systems and equipment
  • Perform testing and maintenance on a wide variety of generating technologies and locations across the Western Operations area of responsibility, including 100+ year old Hydro generation facilities in the Big Creek, Tule, Kaweah, and Kern river watersheds
  • Track equipment maintenance and assures equipment is maintained accordingly as needed or scheduled. Initiates and implements corrective actions relative to protection of systems and controls. Have the responsibility for testing and in service testing of system equipment
  • Plan, program, perform minor design modifications, lay out test work and coordinates work with other workers
  • Use software programs utilized in programming, testing, inspecting, repairing, and adjusting system equipment
  • Maintain, modify or revise electrical drawings and required documentation

Minimum Qualifications
  • Advanced electrical, electronic, digital, and analog theory experience and/or formal training in electrical engineering
  • Three or more years of experience performing work requiring extensive comprehension of electrical theory and use of principles of electrical theory
  • Three or more years of experience installing, testing, repairing, maintaining electrical protective equipment
  • Valid Class C driver's license

Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of Test Technician training program (i.e. Relay Technician, Field Engineer, etc.)
  • Experience modifying, revising, and creating electrical prints utilizing AutoCAD Software
  • Qualified high voltage worker
  • Experience working with SAP, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience working with Emerson Ovation Control Systems

Reference our Information Guides for the following tests: Test Technician A Hydro (Test #2737). Candidates who have previously passed these assessment(s), in some cases, may not need to retest again for this position.
