Job description

EDI Implementation Specialist
Founded in 2003, Roundstone is not your typical insurance company. We’re on a mission to help employers save on healthcare benefits so they can put those savings towards bettering their businesses and taking care of their employees.
Role Description
The EDI Analyst owns end-to-end data exchange between Roundstone and our partner vendors, TPAs, and carriers. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of EDI partnerships, including setup, mapping, testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting across delimited, fixed-width, and X.12 EDI file formats.
As part of the Data Team, the EDI Analyst administers Roundstone’s Managed File Transfer platform, GoAnywhere MFT, and serves as the primary point of contact for vendor file exchange issues. EDI data exchange is foundational to Roundstone’s daily operations, supporting core processes such as claims and eligibility across the business.
Key Duties amp; Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary EDI and technical contact with internal teams and vendor technical staff for setup, testing, implementation, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Administer and maintain EDI transactions in Roundstone’s enterprise system.
  • Own the setup, configuration, and security of the Managed File Transfer platform, GoAnywhere MFT.
  • Gather requirements for new partner and trading-partner setups.
  • Schedule and monitor automated file transmissions and event rules across systems.
  • Manage file feeds and maintain up-to-date credentials and connection settings.
  • Audit error logs and troubleshoot file load issues, determining the resources needed to resolve them.
  • Set up, configure, and test system changes for desired outcomes while following Roundstone’s standard change management process.
  • Log, track, and resolve incidents and requests through the ticket system.
  • Analyze current processes, benchmark best practices, and implement efficiencies to support continued growth.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, including vendor and trading-partner tracking.
  • Provide technical support to internal users and partner vendors on EDI communication, translation failures, and related issues.
  • Support EDI data flows underpinning core operational processes, including claims and eligibility.
  • Balance multiple vendor requests and priorities while keeping partner setups, tickets, and troubleshooting on schedule.
  • Monitor transaction volumes and error trends to identify issues proactively rather than only reacting to failures.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience serving as a subject matter expert for EDI or file-based data exchange.
  • Experience managing SSH keys or PGP encryption.
  • Comfort working directly with both technical and non-technical users and translating between the two.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor explanations to the end user’s technical level.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to juggle multiple partner requests and deadlines at once.
  • Ability to write and interpret SQL queries to investigate data issues, trace root causes, and identify trends in transaction volume or failure rates.
  • A proactive, improvement-minded approach, with a focus on streamlining processes rather than simply maintaining them.
  • Eagerness to grow technically and take on new tools and challenges as Roundstone’s data environment evolves.
  • Experience with EDI X.12 file formats, including transaction sets 834, 837, 835, and 278.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with GoAnywhere MFT or a similar managed file transfer platform.
  • Ability to interpret data record sets within files.
  • Insurance or financial services experience preferred.
  • Experience with claims systems, eligibility processing, or healthcare data, such as enrollment, claims, and remittance transactions.
  • Experience with EDI translator software or data integration and ETL tools, such as Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, or similar platforms.
Better Benefits:
We’re leaders in our industry, so naturally, we look out for our employees’ best interests with a robust benefits package. Roundstone employees are eligible for:
  • Medical, dental and vision benefits
  • Annual bonus
  • Dependent care 100% match up to max allowable
  • Parental leave
  • PTO beginning on Day 1
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Healthy work/life balance
  • Hybrid office schedule
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • On-site gym with personal trainer access
  • Life insurance and short term disability insurance
