To thrive as a remote EDI Coordinator, you need a solid understanding of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) standards, data mapping, and business processes, typically backed by a relevant degree or experience in IT or supply chain. Familiarity with EDI translators, VANs, and ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle, as well as certifications like EDI Professional, are highly valuable. Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective virtual communication are crucial soft skills for collaborating with partners and troubleshooting issues remotely. These skills ensure seamless, accurate data exchanges and support efficient business operations across distributed teams.

What are EDI Coordinators?

EDI Coordinators are professionals responsible for managing and overseeing Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) processes within an organization. They ensure that electronic transactions between business partners, such as invoices, purchase orders, and other documents, are transmitted accurately and efficiently. EDI Coordinators work closely with IT teams, vendors, and internal departments to troubleshoot issues, implement new EDI solutions, and maintain compliance with industry standards. In remote positions, they perform these duties from a location outside the traditional office, often using specialized software and communication tools.
