Proficiency with statistical software (like Stata, R, or SAS), spreadsheet modeling, and familiarity with legal research databases are typically required. What is economic litigation consulting?

Economic litigation consulting is a specialized field where experts provide economic analysis and testimony to support legal cases. These consultants use economic theory, data analysis, and financial modeling to assess damages, value businesses, or evaluate the economic impact of alleged actions in disputes. They often work closely with attorneys to clarify complex economic concepts for judges and juries. Their expertise is crucial in cases involving antitrust, intellectual property, securities, and other financial matters.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals in economic litigation consulting, and how can they be addressed?

Economic litigation consultants often face tight deadlines, complex data analysis, and the need to communicate technical findings to non-expert audiences. Managing large volumes of financial or economic data while ensuring accuracy can be demanding, especially when supporting high-stakes legal cases. Building strong project management skills, collaborating closely with both legal teams and subject matter experts, and developing clear communication techniques can help address these challenges and lead to successful case outcomes.

  • Advising attorneys and clients on equitable distribution, spousal support, child support, and lifestyle analysis
  • Developing and executing strategic growth plans for our Family Law & Divorce Litigation Support practice
  • Building client relationships and visibility through networking, thought leadership, and professional associations
  • Managing and mentoring teams of consultants and analysts

What You'll Bring
We know great team members come from many paths. Typically, we look for:
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • 15+ years of experience in matrimonial litigation support, family law consulting, or financial advisory for high-net-worth divorce
  • Proven success as a financial expert witness in complex disputes

  • Professional designations such as CPA, CVA, ABV, ASA, CFA, CFE, or CFF
  • Membership in organizations like AAML, NACVA, or ASA a plus

Why Join DLA?

  • Flexible PTO (plus your birthday as a holiday)
  • Direct client exposure from day one
  • Career path to leadership & Partner
  • Hybrid work model with flexibility built in
  • 401(k) match, referral programs, and comprehensive benefits
