About the Role
Join HUNT and help shape the future of communities. We are seeking a Planner who is passionate about land use, zoning, and community development to support a diverse range of projects across our multidisciplinary firm.
In this role you won't just review plans, you will play a key part in collaborating with clients, municipal staff, developers, and community stakeholders to guide projects through regulatory processes and contribute to thoughtful, compliant development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in zoning ordinances, comprehensive plans, subdivisions, and land development regulations
  • Review site development applications for compliance with zoning, regulatory, and permitting requirements
  • Advise planning boards and municipal bodies on project applications and development proposals
  • Coordinate with engineers, architects, and other professionals on development reviews
  • Participate in and present at planning board and municipal meetings
  • Assist in zoning code development, updates, or assist with land development policy initiatives
  • Conduct data collection, analysis, and prepare reports and public presentations
  • Monitor funding opportunities related to planning, infrastructure, and economic development
  • Apply general knowledge of site development (i.e. grading, stormwater management, and utility coordination) in permitting processes

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or a related field
    • Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 5-15 years of experience in land use planning, site development, or municipal zoning
  • Strong understanding of zoning codes, permitting processes, and environmental review (SEQR)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, ArcMap/GIS, AutoCAD, or similar tools is a plus
  • AICP, PE, or other relevant certification is a plus
