Job description

We are seeking an experienced eCommerce Shopify Architect to lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable, high-performance Shopify-based e-commerce solutions. This role is responsible for translating business and client requirements into robust Shopify architectures, guiding technical teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of innovative online shopping experiences. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Shopify, e-commerce best practices, and a proven track record of architecting complex digital commerce ecosystems.
Should have work experience in a composable commerce architectural paradigm with good knowledge of app based and asynchronous integrations to third party packages components.
Knowledge in any cloud and preferably AWS has additional consideration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, clients, and cross-functional teams to gather and analyze e-commerce requirements and business objectives.
    Architect end-to-end Shopify solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and performance across front-end interfaces, back-end services, and integrations.
    Lead technical audits and discovery sessions to assess existing e-commerce platforms, documenting findings and creating actionable solution plans.
    Guide, mentor, and manage development teams throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and coding standards.
    Make critical architecture and technology stack decisions, leveraging Shopify Plus features and headless commerce approaches where appropriate.
    Oversee the integration of third-party services, APIs, and Shopify apps to extend store functionality and optimize user experience.
    Ensure seamless connectivity with marketing tools, analytics platforms, and inventory management systems.
    Conduct code reviews, enforce best practices, and maintain high standards for code quality, documentation, and testing.
    Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, providing technical guidance and recommendations to resolve challenges as they arise.
    Stay current with the latest e-commerce trends, Shopify platform updates, and emerging technologies, proactively recommending enhancements and optimizations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
    Extensive experience architecting and developing e-commerce solutions on Shopify Plus, including custom theme and app development.
    Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (including ES6+), Liquid templating, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
    Strong understanding of Shopify APIs, Storefront API, AJAX API, and third-party integrations.
    Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, mentor developers, and manage complex project deliverables.
    Experience with responsive design, UX/UI best practices, and optimizing for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
    Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
    Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development methodologies.
    Prior experience conducting technical audits, code reviews, and maintaining high coding standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with headless commerce architectures and integrating Shopify with external CMS, ERP, or PIM systems.
    Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
    Shopify certification(s) or relevant e-commerce architecture credentials.
