Salary:

SASSO is partnering with one of our clients to identify an experienced E-commerce Director to lead end-to-end online retail strategy and execution for a portfolio of sports equipment and lifestyle brands poised for rapid growth and expansion. This senior-level role will oversee direct-to-consumer e-commerce sales through individual brand websites, leveraging the Shopify platform to deliver exceptional online experiences and drive revenue growth. The ideal candidate brings proven success in scaling D2C e-commerce operations, with additional experience managing sales through major online retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Target, and DICKS Sporting Goods and others.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Develop and execute the comprehensive e-commerce strategy for all brands, aligning annual objectives with growth targets and seasonal demand.
  • Oversee D2C sales performance on individual brand websites, ensuring best-in-class Shopify store operations, merchandising, and user experience.
  • Manage performance across third-party online retail channels, including Amazon, Walmart, Target, and DICKS and others, optimizing sales strategies to maximize visibility and profitability.
  • Influence product assortment, pricing, promotions, and discount strategies based on performance analytics, competitive intelligence, and consumer trends.
  • Build and implement playbooks tailored to seasonal and audience-specific campaigns, adapting to market shifts, competitor activity, and real-time data.
  • Lead integrated marketing efforts across paid media, creative development, and performance campaigns, ensuring alignment with full-funnel strategies and revenue goals.
  • Own the customer acquisition funnel, optimizing Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) and Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) through strategic management of paid and owned channels.
  • Oversee customer engagement programs including email and SMS marketing, loyalty and referral program development, ratings and reviews management, and lifecycle campaigns to increase retention and lifetime value
  • Direct influencer and affiliate marketing programs, identifying partnerships that drive reach, engagement, and measurable sales impact.
  • Lead conversion rate optimization (CRO) efforts, including A/B testing across Shopify product and landing pages to maximize conversion performance.
  • Partner with internal teams, agencies, and vendors to ensure alignment on product launches, promotions, and campaign messaging.
  • Manage direct reports, including e-commerce specialists, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Develop and maintain a performance reporting framework for leadership, tracking key metrics including CAC, LTV, ROAS, churn, and conversion rate to inform strategic decisions.
  • Monitor emerging technologies, platforms, and trends to identify opportunities for innovation in e-commerce operations.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of e-commerce leadership experience, ideally in sports, consumer goods, or related industries.
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable revenue growth in multi-brand D2C environments.
  • Required: Hands-on expertise with the Shopify platform, including store setup, management, and optimization.
  • Preferred: Experience managing online sales through Amazon, Walmart, Target, DICKS Sporting Goods, and other major retail platforms.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in P&L management, forecasting, and performance analysis.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate cross-functional teams and manage external vendors.
