Eastlake High School is looking for qualified candidates to fill a Social Studies Teacher 1.0 FTE position for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a continuing position. A building administrator will contact you directly if you are selected for an interview.
Position Summary
Eastlake High School is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and committed social studies educator to join our faculty as a full-time teacher. Rooted in our credo "At Eastlake, through intentional actions, we create an environment where students and staff feel safe, appreciated, and loved. This is Eastlake. This is home. This is family." we are looking for someone who shares our dedication to building meaningful relationships and fostering a sense of belonging in every classroom.
This role involves teaching history and/or social studies courses to students in grades 9 12 and requires high expectations for academic achievement matched with high levels of support. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative team environment and is passionate about guiding young people through inquiry-based, analytic learning.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement engaging, standards-based lessons.
  • Cultivate a supportive, inclusive classroom culture where all students feel safe, valued, and empowered to learn.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues to plan curriculum, align assessments, and support school-wide goals.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and tailor instruction to individual needs.
  • Build strong, caring relationships with students, promoting both academic and personal growth.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Embrace and model the Eastlake credo in daily interactions and professional conduct.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with a History or Social Studies endorsement.
  • A deep commitment to student-centered teaching, inclusion, and equity.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • A passion for social studies education and meaningful student relationships.

Preferred:
  • Experience working with high school students (ages 14 19).
  • Familiarity with Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
  • Enthusiasm for contributing to a school culture where everyone feels at home.

Paid per teacher salary schedule with Base contract plus additional contracts for LEAP days, and Responsibility. Additional Technology stipend and Professional Fund.
