UC Engineer
Foster City, CA
We are looking for a UC Engineer to manage, maintain, and optimize our enterprise Unified Communications and Collaboration platforms. This role involves day-to-day administration, troubleshooting, and implementation of voice, video, and meeting room solutions. You will work closely with other network teams to ensure reliable and secure UC services for our global workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Administer UC platforms such as ZOOM, Microsoft Teams, Cisco UC, or similar.
Manage voice services: dial plans, number assignments, call routing, PSTN connectivity, and SBC configurations.
Configure and maintain meeting rooms (Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms), endpoints, and peripherals.
Monitor UC systems for performance, capacity, and availability; respond to alerts and incidents.
Execute UC deployments and migrations.
Provision users, licenses, and policies; automate workflows where possible.
Troubleshoot voice/video issues (QoS, jitter, packet loss, one-way audio).
Provide Tier 2/3 support for UC-related incidents and service requests.
Integrate UC platforms with identity systems (Azure AD, Okta) and enforce MFA/Conditional Access.
Ensure compliance with E911, call recording, and retention policies.
Apply security best practices for UC tenants, admin roles, and access controls.
Resolve conflicts, remove blockers, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Monitor team performance and ensure delivery of projects and tasks on time.
Maintain accurate documentation: call flows, configuration guides, and operational runbooks.
Follow ITIL processes for incident, change, and problem management.
Participate in UC lifecycle planning and contribute to platform upgrades.
Required Qualifications
8+ years experience in UC administration and support.
Hands-on experience with:
o Microsoft Teams Voice (Direct Routing, Operator Connect) or Zoom Phone
o SBCs (AudioCodes, Ribbon, Cisco) and SIP trunking
o Meeting room systems and AV hardware
Strong troubleshooting skills for voice/video quality issues (QoS, DSCP, MOS).
Familiarity with network fundamentals (firewalls, NAT, STUN/TURN/ICE).
Experience with identity integration (Azure AD, Okta) and security policies.
Knowledge of ServiceNow ITSM or similar ticketing systems.
