Job description

 Salary Range: $65,040.00 - $97,561.00 

Position Summary:

The Engineering Change Specialist owns and administers the end-to-end Engineering Change Management (ECM) process, ensuring that product changes are accurately defined, reviewed, approved, implemented, and closed across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing.

This role serves as the central authority for product configuration and change governance, maintaining data integrity across the PDM, ERP and other systems while minimizing production disruption, financial risk, and downstream rework. The Specialist facilitates Change Review Board (CRB) activities, trains engineers on change documentation standards, and partners cross-functionally to ensure changes are production-ready and executed efficiently.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Engineering Change Management

  • Own and manage the Engineering Change Order (ECO) lifecycle from initiation through closure.
  • Review ECOs, ECRs, deviations, and new part requests for accuracy and completeness prior to CRB review or CAD release.
  • Facilitate Change Review Board (CRB) meetings, including preparation, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Train engineers on change documentation standards and governance requirements.

Configuration & Data Integrity

  • Maintain accurate BOMs, revisions, and product configurations in PDM and ERP systems.
  • Ensure controlled release and communication of drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Support audits, data cleanup efforts, and continuous improvement of product data accuracy.
  • Partner with PLM and Engineering to improve change workflows and system integrity.

Cross-Functional Implementation

  • Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing to assess change readiness, including:
    • Data and documentation completion
    • System updates and release timing
    • Inventory and material impact
    • Training and communication needs
  • Determine optimal timing for ECO implementation based on readiness and impact.
  • Interpret engineering documentation to support production execution.

Change Closure & Reporting

  • Drive ECOs to full closure, validating inventory disposition, system updates, approvals, and production implementation.
  • Own visibility and accountability for change status, timelines, risks, and implementation outcomes.
  • Drive open actions to resolution and enforce closure requirements.
Qualifications, Skills and Education:

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience supporting Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), configuration management, product change implementation using PDM and ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience coordinating engineering changes across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, revisions, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with structured data and reports.
  • Ability to work onsite three days per week (Tuesday-Thursday) at the Cypress, CA headquarters.

Preferred Qualification

  • Experience independently administering the full ECO lifecycle.
  • Experience facilitating or supporting Change Review Board (CRB) meetings.
  • Experience with SolidWorks PDM, Microsoft Dynamics AX and/or Dynamics 365, or similar platforms.
  • Experience supporting NPI, product revisions, or end-of-life (EOL) transitions.
  • Background in discrete manufacturing (furniture, mechanical, or consumer goods).
  • Experience supporting audits, data cleanup, or product data improvement initiatives.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated use of automation or AI tools to improve efficiency.
