As a member of our Professional Services department, the Senior Systems Engineer helps design and deliver scopes of work related to client IT environments. Senior Systems Engineers are responsible for the following essential duties:

  • Provides senior consultative services and project work for Professional Services clients
  • Responsible for designing, implementing, and remedying complex technology solutions in two or more of the following “subject matter expert” areas:
  1. REQUIRED: Cloud Technology: Provides project design + implementation tasks, including migrations to, and high-level troubleshooting for, public, private, and hybrid cloud infrastructure, including Azure, AWS, Microsoft365.
  2. REQUIRED; Modern Workplace/Automation: Defines and completes project tasks, including scripting, related to workplace automation, leveraging Intune, SharePoint (including migrations), Viva, PowerApps, Power Automate, Microsoft Power Platform, etc.
  3. Exchange/Messaging: Provides design, implementation, migration, and high-level troubleshooting services for Microsoft Exchange and messaging systems, including Microsoft365.
  4. Windows Servers: Provides project design + implementation, and high-level troubleshooting for infrastructure, including Windows Server (2019, 2016, 2012 R2, 2012, 2008 R2, 2003) and virtualization environments on both Hyper-V and vSphere, in addition to Citrix XenApp and/or XenDesktop, and Azure Virtual Desktop.
  5. Active Directory: Provides project design + implementation and high-level troubleshooting for Active Directory, including Azure Active Directory, Intune, AutoPilot, Group Policy, Access/Identity Management, AADS, Federation Services, Domain Controllers, etc. for medium to enterprise environments.
  6. Networking: Provides project design + implementation and high-level troubleshooting for networking infrastructure, including: Routing, switching, firewalls, WAPs, VPNs, load balancers, etc. in medium to larger LAN/WAN environments, including cloud environments (Azure, Amazon AWS).
  • Acts as a presales consult to help a client identify appropriate solutions, determine project scope, tasks, and budget requirements for Professional Services engagements, interfacing directly with sales team members as well as clients/prospects to understand existing environments, client goals/business objectives, and outline a solution. Scoping work may be limited to Rough Orders of Magnitude or smaller scale projects where a Solution Architect skillset is not required, or the Senior Systems Engineer may work in coordination with a Solutions Architect/Director to ensure appropriate scoping.
  • Acts as project lead for assigned projects, directing others in completing project tasks according to project scopes; working with Project Managers or Sales to resolve potential/actual risks; and otherwise ensuring the successful delivery of services.
  • Acts as a mentor to help develop the skillsets of Project Engineers and others, developing and delivering trainings; assisting on completion of project tasks; and otherwise helping support the success of other team members.
  • Completes additional, related responsibilities as assigned.
  • Complies with all company policies, client security policies, and maintains strict confidentiality.


Requirements:

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, plus a minimum of 8 years’ experience providing engineering within a Microsoft environment. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a consultative capacity at a systems integrator/MSP/other IT vendor, including experience in presales, project scoping, and project implementation. An equivalent combination of education, experience, and skillsets will also be considered.
  • High levels of project ownership and individual accountability in a results-oriented environment. Demonstrated experience as a project lead.

Technical Skills/Competencies:

In addition to Subject Matter Expertise in their specialty areas, the Senior Systems Engineer should have:

  • Previous Office365 migration experience (both hybrid and cloud only) required, as well as advanced Office365 administration and troubleshooting experience
  • Proficiency in Windows Server (all versions) and workstation implementation, administration, and troubleshooting
  • Strong proficiency in Exchange (all versions/Online preferred), Hyper-V, Active Directory, and Powershell/VBS, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Working knowledge of Teams Voice, Skype for Business, Viva, and Office 365 strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of Intune policy management, including implementation experience. AutoPilot roll-outs and Apple Business Manager knowledge preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in public cloud and virtualization technologies preferred: Azure, Office 365 & HyperV
  • Utilization of Migration tools such as (ForensIT, Azure Migrate, BitTitan, Cloudiway, MoveriO, Sharegate, SPMT)
  • Functional knowledge of Security and Identity Management, Okta, Public Key Infrastructure, SQL Server, or Linux/Unix/RedHat a plus!
  • Microsoft certifications highly desired, and will be required for continued employment

Shift/Availability Requirements:

Core hours will be Monday through Friday, with a schedule to be agreed upon based on Company needs. Given the nature of IT, some project work will need to be delivered outside of standard business hours. An ability to work a flexible schedule for occasional after-hours/weekend migrations and other project responsibilities is required. Managed Solution is a 24x7/365 operation and is headquartered in the Pacific Time Zone. While some flexibility may be offered for employees in other time zones, employees will need to be available to coincide with Company and client needs/policies.


Remote/Onsite Requirements: This position is eligible for remote work, within a state where Managed Solution has payroll operations. Employees will work from a home office within an assigned state. Your presence at our company headquarters in San Diego, CA; at meetings/conferences/off-site events; at client locations; or elsewhere, may be required on occasion.


Background Check Requirements:

Individuals in this role will be subject to a background screening and reference check process as part of pre-employment screening. Members of the Professional Services team may be subject to additional screenings from time to time, as required by clients/partner agreements. Such screenings may include drug testing in accordance with applicable laws/regulations. An individual’s continued employment may be subject to the successful passing of such screenings.

Compensation & Benefits*

Base Wage Range: $110,000 - $135,000 per year

Managed Solution considers a range of factors when determining an appropriate wage. Such factors include but are not limited to: years of related experience, industry knowledge, formal education, relevant certifications, and geographic location. Wages are paid as earned and in accordance with Company policies.
