Job description

As part of the Engineering Team, the Applications Engineering role is an integral part of the pre‑sales process. This role is responsible for supporting the sales team in the development of conveyor system concepts, designs, and costing to meet the needs of each customer’s applications. This requires the ability to analyze customer requirements, design conveyor systems to meet the application, and provide technical expertise to optimize customer processes and ensure the successful integration of Company products into the customers operations. This role plays a vital part in enhancing customer processes and delivering high quality conveyor solutions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities 1. Solution Development
  • Analyze customer requirements and specifications and develops the best solution and process for the project, and accurately estimates the cost of the solution.
  • Prepare comprehensive drawings, cost breakdowns, and technical specifications.
  • Utilize 3D design software (Inventor) to create detailed drawing files for conveyor system layouts and components.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to develop custom conveyor solutions that meet specific project requirements.
3. System Integration
  • Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to understand upstream and downstream processes that interface with our conveyor systems and collaborate with the Company’s Controls Engineering team to ensure effective integration and process optimization.
  • Identify and resolve any integration challenges to ensure seamless operation and efficient material flow.
4. Product Development and Enhancement
  • Stay updated on the latest conveyor technologies, industry trends, and customer requirements.
  • Identify and recommend product enhancements and modifications that will improve system performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the product design & development teams to provide input for the design and improvement of conveyor system components.
  • Identify gaps in existing Company product offerings where product development opportunities exist.
5. Technical Expertise
  • Become a subject matter expert on Company conveyor products, features, and capabilities.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers, sales teams, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct training sessions or presentations to educate customers and internal teams on the features and functionality of our conveyor systems.
6. Other duties as assigned
  • Support Design Engineering with active sales projects as necessary.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in designing and integrating conveyor systems.
  • Proficiency in 3D design software (Inventor) for creating detailed drawings.
  • Strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes and the materials handling industry.
  • Familiarity with cost estimation techniques and proposal development.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to converse easily and professionally with customers, and influence buying decisions using technical expertise.
  • Ability to proficiently utilize Microsoft 365 Suite, and Company ERP / CRM programs within a Windows environment required.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with customers and internal teams.
  • Highly detail oriented with ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15 % of the time to customer sites for system evaluations and support.
