How much do dxdesigner jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 6, 2026, the average hourly pay for dxdesigner in the United States is $26.34, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $15.14 and $30.77 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are some common challenges faced by Dxdesigners when collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams?

Dxdesigners often work closely with electrical, mechanical, and PCB layout engineers to translate circuit schematics into manufacturable designs. One common challenge is ensuring that design intent is accurately communicated and that all team members are aligned on requirements, especially when balancing electrical performance with manufacturability constraints. Miscommunication or last-minute changes can lead to costly redesigns, so strong collaboration and version control are essential. Regular design reviews and clear documentation help mitigate these challenges and lead to smoother project execution.

What is the difference between Dxdesigner vs PCB Designer?

AspectDxdesignerPCB Designer
Required CredentialsTypically requires a degree in electronics or electrical engineering, with certifications in PCB design toolsSimilar credentials, often with certifications in PCB CAD software
Work EnvironmentDesign firms, electronics companies, or contract design servicesElectronics manufacturing companies, design consultancies, or freelance work
Industry UsageUsed across electronics, consumer devices, and embedded systemsPrimarily in electronics manufacturing and product development
Common Search/ComparisonOften compared for design responsibilities and skill setsCompared for layout and schematic design tasks

Dxdesigner and PCB Designer are closely related roles in electronics design. While both require similar technical skills and certifications, Dxdesigner often emphasizes the overall design process, including schematic capture and system-level integration, whereas PCB Designer focuses more on the physical layout of printed circuit boards. Understanding these differences helps employers and professionals choose the right role for their project needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a DxDesigner, and why are they important?

To thrive as a DxDesigner, you need strong expertise in PCB design, electronic circuit theory, and schematic capture, often supported by an engineering degree or equivalent experience. Proficiency with Mentor Graphics DxDesigner software, PCB layout tools, and familiarity with industry standards like IPC are typically required. Attention to detail, effective communication, and problem-solving skills help DxDesigners collaborate with engineering teams and address design challenges. These abilities ensure accurate, manufacturable circuit designs that meet project requirements and industry standards.

What is a DxDesigner?

A DxDesigner is a professional who uses the Mentor Graphics DxDesigner software, a schematic capture tool, to design and manage electronic circuits and printed circuit board (PCB) schematics. DxDesigners are responsible for creating accurate circuit diagrams, organizing component libraries, and ensuring that schematics meet design and industry standards. They often work closely with hardware engineers and PCB layout designers to ensure a smooth transition from schematic to physical board layout. Proficiency with DxDesigner software and a strong understanding of electronic components and circuit design principles are essential for this role.
