Job description

Working as part of a team of engineers and designers preparing modification packages for mechanical and piping systems serving the nuclear power industry.
Job Responsibilities:
* Develop design modification packages for mechanical systems at a nuclear power plant, such as piping modifications, system reconfigurations, valve and traveling screen replacements.
* Perform engineering calculations such as hydraulic analysis, equipment sizing, HVAC sizing, heat load analysis, and pressure loss calculations.
* Develop mechanical design and procurement specifications.
* Prepare engineering drawings such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), General Arrangement (GA), Equipment Plan, Piping Orthographic and Isometric drawings.
* Develop material and workhour estimates as well as engineering and design schedules.
* Exercise sound engineering judgment in assessing problem situations or complex issues, review completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design criteria.
* Interface with plant stakeholders to determine project scope/requirements, support construction/implementation and start up activities as required.
Bentley AutoPIPE is greatly preferred
Hexagon Caesar ii is also acceptable
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university
- Minimum of 5, 8 to 12 years of relevant experience depending on level in the mechanical engineering field, with 2, 5, to 8 years supporting nuclear work.
- The ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.
Preferred Qualifications
- Duke Energy Nuclear experience
- 2 - 8 years supporting nuclear work
- Master of Science Degree in mechanical or nuclear engineering preferred.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in US
- Experience with fluid flow software (AFT FATHOM, PROTO-FLO, KYPIPE, or Equivalent)
- Experience with Fire Protection and Detection Systems
