We are looking for a person with deep expertise in native iOS development to drive the evolution of our mobile application ecosystem. This role will shape the architecture, frameworks, and technical direction of the PlayStation experience on iOS, helping deliver seamless, performant, and delightful applications to millions of players worldwide. 

As a Staff Engineer, you will not only design and build critical components but also provide technical leadership, mentor engineers across the team, and partner with product, design, and platform stakeholders to ensure scalable and sustainable solutions.

Responsibilities:  

  • Define and drive the architectural vision that powers PlayStation iOS app experiences. Produce and integrate iOS frameworks and SDKs to support development across teams for the Mac platform and meet feature and performance requirements.  

  • Lead the design and build UX experiences written in Swift and and implementation of high-performance native modules in C++ with iOS APIs (Objective-C/Swift). 

  • Partner closely with cross-platform teams to establish standards, patterns, and best practices that scale across multiple desktop platforms. 

  • Apply architectural design patterns such as MVC, MVVM, MVP to develop sustainable and reusable codebase. 

  • Mentor and coach engineers across the team, raising the technical bar and fostering a culture of engineering excellence. 

  • Collaborate with UI designers, product managers, and international partners to transform requirements into high-quality, maintainable macOS solutions (USA/Japan/Canada). 

  • Drive performance optimization, stability, and system-level integration for iOS-specific features. 

  • Contribute to the design of APIs, SDKs, and developer-facing tools that accelerate PlayStation app development. 

  • Represent the team in architectural and technical forums across Sony Interactive Entertainment, advocating for iOS platform needs and alignment.

  • Support CI/CD workflows by shaping automation strategies and maintaining code quality standards. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • 8+ years of software development experience, with at least 5 years focused on iOS native application development. 

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent. 

  • Strong expertise in C++ and solid experience with JavaScript integration (React Native). 

  • Expert knowledge of the general Mac landscape, architectures, trends, platform features, and new technologies. 

  • Proven experience designing large-scale, performant, multi-threaded applications. 

  • Strong background in API and solution design. 

  • Experience applying software architectural patterns (MVC, MVVM, MVP, or similar) to build reusable and maintainable systems. 

  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum). 

  • Track record of technical leadership: mentoring engineers, leading projects, or influencing architectural direction. Passion for building world-class desktop user experiences. 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience with Objective-C and/or Swift for iOS system integration. 

  • Experience with iPadOS and MacOS

  • Familiarity with React Native and hybrid app architectures.  

  • Contributions to open-source projects, especially developer libraries or frameworks. 

  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins) and modern build pipelines. 

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with globally distributed teams.Â
