Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Duke Primary Care Float Pool

Department Profile: Duke Primary Care in Durham offers comprehensive family medicine and lab services in one location. For adults, services include internal and family medicine, annual physicals, preventive care, sick visits, immunizations, chronic illness management, women's health care, and diagnostic tests like lab work and X-rays. For children and adolescents, care includes well-child visits, routine checkups, physicals, immunizations, and management of conditions like asthma, allergies, and diabetes. Clinic Location and Hours: Open 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday Float-Pool (Travel position)

What You Will Do

Clinical Responsibilities: Administer medications and IV fluids as prescribed by the doctor and maintain records. Provide direct care to patients under the supervision of a nurse or doctor. Follow the doctor's orders and nursing care plan for patient care. Report patient responses to care to a nurse for evaluation and adjustments to the care plan. Assist other healthcare staff in delivering patient care. Help doctors and nurses with diagnostic procedures. Assess nursing care, patient responses, and prioritize nursing tasks. Administrative Responsibilities: Help develop and implement policies to ensure patient comfort and safety and participate in creating new policies. Contribute to maintaining the care environment, including equipment and supplies. Identify and assist in improving clinical and operational performance. Assist in managing supplies and equipment, reporting any malfunctions to the charge nurse. Participate in training programs and help train new staff. Perform other related duties as needed.

What You Will Need

Education Work requires graduation from an approved or accredited Practical Nurse program. Experience No experience required. Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification A current North Carolina LPN license or a compact LPN license is required to begin work while pursuing permanent NC licensure.
