Job Summary

The Armed Security Officer provides analytical and tactical armed protective support of an assigned premises, personnel, and assets in compliance with state/federal regulations and company policies. This role will maintain a visible presence to deter illegal activities, as well as respond to, assess, and investigate security events. Exercises independent decision making in a high stress environment and utilizes strong critical thinking skills to evaluate suspicious activities occurring on or near company site. Demonstrates proficiency in the safe handling, firing, and maintenance of assigned weaponry. Ability to communicate effectively with employees or site visitors to maintain the security environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manages electronic access control systems to monitor site access and visitor management.

  • Respond to incidents, emergencies, and alarms, assess situations, and take appropriate actions.

  • Conduct regular patrols of the designated area, including interior and exterior spaces.

  • Utilize security systems and technologies for intrusion analysis, video analytics, and incident management.

  • Generate detailed reports on security incidents, observations, and actions taken, maintaining accurate records for future reference.

  • Collaborate with other employees, security personnel, team members, or law enforcement agencies to ensure effective communication and coordination during security response.

Basic/Required Qualifications (Critical Protection Officer I)
  • Associate Degree

  • Minimum of 3 years Related Work Experience

  • Certification Basic Law Enforcement Training or Certification Armed Security Officer

  • In lieu of Associates degree(s) AND 3 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 5 year(s) related work experience

Basic/Required Qualifications (Critical Protection Officer II)
  • Associate Degree

  • Minimum of 6 years Related Work Experience

  • Certification Basic Law Enforcement Training or Certification Armed Security Officer

  • In lieu of Associates degree(s) AND 6 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 6 year(s) related work experience

Desired Qualifications
  • Basic law enforcement training or experience responding to public service calls in a sworn capacity of federal, state, or local government agency preferred.

  • Experience utilizing physical access control systems, video surveillance systems, and other security technologies for intrusion detection and analytics.

  • Continuous demonstration of critical thinking and decision-making skills.

  • Additional certifications in First Aid, CPR, or AED are highly desirable.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the safe handling, firing, and maintenance of assigned weaponry.

Additional Desired Qualifications
  • Basic law enforcement training or experience responding to public service calls in a sworn capacity of federal, state, or local government agency preferred.

  • Valid state-issued armed security officer license or certification in accordance with [State] regulations, or ability to obtain.

  • Experience utilizing physical access control systems, video surveillance systems, and other security technologies for intrusion detection and analytics.

Working Conditions
  • Onsite Mobility Classification - Work will be performed at a company facility.

  • Ability to work assigned shift schedule up to 12 hours day or night shift.

  • Ability to perform physical walk downs of facilities for security event response and observations.

  • Ability to wear a firearm and other security equipment throughout the shift.

Specific Requirements
  • 3 years of direct experience carrying a firearm in the course of duty, to include law enforcement or equivalent military experience

  • In Lieu of Degree: 5 years of direct experience carrying a firearm in the course of duty, to include law enforcement or equivalent military experience

  • Basic law enforcement training or Armed Security Officer certification

  • Ability to meet and maintain Enterprise Protective Services standards and requirements to carry a firearm.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the safe handling, firing, and maintenance of assigned weaponry.

  • Complete the assigned NC PPSB course, to include successfully completing the armed guard portion.
