Employment Status: Full-Time | Permanent (Not an outage travel role)

This opportunity is being recruited by The Nuclear Company on behalf of Duke Energy Lark Maintenance. While most of our services opportunities support outage and field work, this position is a direct-hire opportunity with one of our trusted industry partners.

If selected, you will be hired directly as a full-time, permanent employee of Duke Energy Lark Maintenance. They areย responsible for compensation, benefits, payroll, work schedules, supervision, onboarding, workplace policies, and all other terms and conditions of employment.

For this opportunity our role is to identify qualified candidates, coordinate the interview process, and support both candidates and our client throughout the hiring process.

About the role

The Manual Machinist is responsible for the safe setup and operation of manual machining equipment to manufacture, repair, and inspect precision components supporting power generation equipment. This role requires strong hands-on machining experience, the ability to work from technical drawings, and the capability to hold close tolerances while maintaining a strong safety and quality mindset.

This is a full-time, onsite position located at Duke Energy's Lark Maintenance facility in Mt. Holly, NC, supporting plant operations through TNC Energy Services. The ideal candidate will live/commute to the location daily as relocation is not offered for this position, at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and independentlyย operateย manual lathes, milling machines, horizontal and vertical boring mills, grinders, drills, and large metal-cutting sawsย 
  • Machine components to close tolerances (0.001")ย 
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring and testing equipment (M&TE)ย 
  • Utilize OD/ID micrometers, Vernier calipers, dial indicators, and hardness testersย 
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructionsย 
  • Perform preventative maintenance on shop equipmentย 
  • Maintain shop housekeeping and organizationย 
  • Safelyย operateย forklifts, man lifts, water jets, sandblasters, and oxy/fuel cutting equipmentย 
  • Inspect andย utilizeย overhead cranes up to 60-ton capacityย 
  • Support safe rigging and lifting of large componentsย 

Experience / Required Qualificationsย 

  • Proven manual machining experience
  • Ability to hold tolerances of 0.001"
  • Proficiencyย with precision measurement toolsย 
  • Rigging and crane qualification (or ability to obtain)
  • Microsoft Officeย proficiencyย 
  • Strong safety mindset and positive attitude
  • Powersafe Training (or ability to complete)
