Be You

If you have a demonstrated current and ongoing significant interest in spine surgery and have prior experience and skills related to orthobiologics/osteobiologics, Tonnis Grading Scale, and protionomics re: pre and post spinal surgery as a Clinical Research Coordinator, then this position will interest you.

In this role, you will work with Peter, Passias, MD, as a Clinical Research Coordinator. To qualify for the position, you must have completed an Associate's Degreen and have a minimum of two years of relevant research experience. Completion of the DOCR North Carolina state approved Clinical Research Apprenticeship program may substitute for one year of required experience.

This position is an onsite position only, a .75 FTE, and a one-year term limited position. 

 

Be Bold

In this role, you will perform a variety of complex and independent activities involved in the collection, analysis, documentation, and interpretation of health-related information.  Some of the essential job duties are to:

  • Conduct highly technical and specialized spine-related scientific research under the supervision of Dr. Passias and additional MDs on the team.
  • Establish work procedures; select sources of information and specific data; set up interviews with appropriate authorities or subjects and prepare correspondence to locate the specific data required.
  • Evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare oral presentations or written reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
  • Perform bench and clinical research experiments, including animal surgery, simulations, and theoretical investigations and analyze data; disseminate research findings.
  • Collect information and data from patient charts and records, patient interviews and other sources; evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare protocol summary forms, statistical reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

The role of Clinical Research Coordinators at Duke is highly regulated, embedded deeply in scientific method and documentation, and requires exceptional attention to detail.  Clinical Research Coordinators in Orthopaedic Surgery contribute to scientific learning and research that informs outcomes across a broad spectrum of Orthopaedic patient care.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $59,829.00 to USD $99,960.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
