Clinical Nurse II Part Time- Duke Asthma, Allergy and Airway Center/Pulmonary

Job Summary:

We are seeking aTRIAGE NURSEto be an integral member of our Asthma, Allergy, and Airway Center healthcare team. The position will manage this patient population via telehealth in order to coordinate care with providers. The Triage Nurse position is based in Durham, NC at a non-clinical office site. This position interacts with patients via telephone and secure messaging vs direct patient contact.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing triage, assessment and education to patients via telephone interactions and secure messaging.
  • Manage patient needs including medication management, post procedure instructions and care coordination.
  • Serve as a liaison to patients, family members and referring providers with guidance from pulmonary providers.
  • Collect and analyze patient data, make recommendations for nursing care plans, evaluate nursing care provided, document and communicate appropriately nursing actions taken and patient responses.
  • Delegate tasks and direct the activities of unlicensed care providers (schedulers, Medical Assistants and Staff Assistants).
  • Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
  • Participate in performance improvement and patient experience activities.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Job Eligibility Requirements:

  • Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
  • All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within seven years of their start date.
  • You have a minimum of 2 years nursing experience and 1 year of med-surg experience.
  • Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.

Job Hours:

Hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. No weekends or Duke designated holidays. Once fully on boarded, this work can be done as a hybrid model. This means a rotating schedule of working remotely and from the office.
