Jamison Professional Services, Inc. ("Jamison") is currently seeking a qualified and motivated candidate for the position of Medical Compliance Assistant.
Job Title: Medical Compliance Assistant.
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES:
A federal government agency is undergoing a multi-year Strategic Transformation to deliver safer, more reliable, and customer-focused transit across the Washington DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia region. Guided by the "Your Metro, The Way Forward" Strategic Transformation Plan, the customer is aligning its operations, technology, organizational structure, and capital investments to meet evolving customer needs, improve efficiency, and strengthen regional mobility. This transformation addresses changes in ridership patterns, growing customer expectations, new transportation competitors, and budget challenges intensified by the Covid-19 pandemic. The initiative enhances cross-department collaboration, modernizes processes, and supports long-term sustainability and trusted service for the communities we serve.
Responsibilities:
Maintains confidentiality of all files/records, and information specific to employees and applicants seen in the Medical Services Branch locations. Coordinates scheduling of employees required medical examinations.
Performs machine calibration functions and implements quality assurance measures in order to ensure credibility of test(s) results. Maintains the collection site and waste in a clean and non-hazardous condition within OSHA regulations and maintains a minimal Level D BAT (Breath Alcohol Testing) certification. Ensures each examination room and collection area are properly stocked and cleaned prior to each procedure. Prepares employees and applicants for tests, fills out all necessary forms, administers and operates a breath alcohol testing device (Evidential Breath Testing Device); ensures equipment is in proper operating condition at all times and periodically makes minor adjustments, etc. in cases of malfunction. Provides educational material on drug abuse prevention.
Ensures proper and eligible labeling of specimens and observes all requirements of the chain of custody form; ensures the integrity of specimen custody and control. Prepares, maintains, and updates all necessary documentation associated with the Authority's alcohol and drug testing program. Operates automated data processing equipment to enter data and access files and to generate reports and data summaries. Testifies as a subject matter expert in arbitrations and other legal proceedings; concerning test results and alcohol and drug test collections process. Provides collection services in off-site collection sites covering all locations and work shifts, including weekend and holidays. Collects urine specimens and conducts drug and alcohol testing in compliance with DOT/FTA regulation and policy maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in accordance with established protocol.
REQUIRED AND DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Associate of Applied Science degree from a CAAHEP-accredited college program; or completion of (2) years of college or university work in allied health sciences from an accredited institution and/or an Associate Degree in Allied Health Sciences and a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a medical technician in a hospital/medical setting is required.
  • Certified status at a minimal Level D BAT (Breath Alcohol Testing) certification is also required. Or an equivalent combination of post high school education in allied health science courses and a minimum of five years of experience as a medical technician in a hospital setting is required.
  • Certified status at a minimal Level D BAT certification is also required.
  • Educated and trained to perform both administrative and clinical skills in the medical care environment. Employees in this class are responsible for conducting medically-related procedures and tests for applicants and employees in connection with the Authority's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program; updating and maintaining test files, maintaining the security of all specimens collected in accordance with HIPAA and DOT; and ensuring the confidentiality of test results.The employee has the ability to take action and exercise judgment within established HIPAA guidelines.

Location: Washington, DC / Alexandria, VA / Silver Spring, MD
Schedule:
Standard hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a one (1) hour unpaid lunch break. However, the COTR may request temporary services for periods in excess of a seven and one half (7.5) hour day or a thirty-seven and one-half hour (37.5) hour week. Temporary personnel working six (6) hours or more are required to take a one-half hour unpaid lunch break. Overtime: Hours worked in excess of forty (40) hours in one week is considered as overtime work, all overtime must be approved by the COTR in advance.
Clearance Level Required: Employment is contingent upon successfully completing any required background checks, in accordance with applicable law.
