Job description

Job Title: Graduation Coach

FLSA Status: Exempt

Days of Work: 200 Days

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Graduation Coach supports middle and high school students who are at risk of not graduating on time by providing targeted academic, attendance, and social-emotional support. This position focuses on increasing on-time graduation rates by monitoring student progress, implementing interventions, and collaborating with staff and families. The Graduation Coach works closely with school leadership to ensure students are on track to meet all graduation requirements. Reports to building principal or designee.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)

Student Support & Intervention

Identify and support students at risk of not graduating on time using data and early warning indicators.

Develop, monitor, and update individualized graduation plans for identified students.

Provide one-on-one and small-group coaching to support academic success, goal setting, and post-secondary planning.

Assist students with credit recovery options and ensure progress toward graduation requirements.

Support students with attendance improvement and engagement strategies.

Data Monitoring & Progress Tracking

Monitor student progress related to grades, attendance, behavior, and credits earned.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and documentation.

Use data to identify trends and adjust interventions to support student success.

Collaborate with school teams to review student progress and determine next steps.

Collaboration & Communication

Collaborate with teachers, school counselors, administrators, and support staff to implement effective interventions.

Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and strategies for support.

Participate in MTSS/RTI, IEP, and other student support meetings as appropriate.

Partner with community organizations and programs that support student success and graduation.

Professional Responsibilities

Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to district policies and procedures.

Participate in professional development related to dropout prevention, student engagement, and academic support.

Support school-wide initiatives focused on improving graduation rates and student outcomes.

Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with students, staff, and families.

Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or district leadership.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Experience working with secondary students (grades 612).

Experience supporting at-risk or diverse student populations.

Preferred:

Bilingual

Experience with dropout prevention, credit recovery, or Title I programs.

Knowledge of graduation requirements, transcripts, and credit tracking.

Knowledge & Skills

Strong understanding of graduation requirements and secondary education systems.

Ability to analyze student data and develop targeted intervention plans.

Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to build relationships with students and motivate them toward graduation.

Strong problem-solving and time-management skills.

Commitment to equity and student success.

Working Conditions:

School-based environment with movement between classrooms, offices, and meeting spaces.

Minimal exposure to environmental hazards.

Occasional travel within the district for meetings or professional development.
