Must Haves

  • Strong hands-on development experience with IBM Sterling Order Management System / Sterling OMS (Java-based customizations, configuration, and extensions)
  • Experience as a Lead Developer, Technical Lead, or Senior Sterling OMS Developer on large-scale OMS implementations
  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end order lifecycle from a technical/architecture standpoint
  • Hands-on experience with: Order Capture, Order Orchestration, Distributed Order Management, Inventory Visibility, Sourcing and Scheduling, Order Fulfillment, Order Modification, Order Cancellation, Returns / Reverse Logistics
  • Strong experience developing for retail and omnichannel fulfillment
  • Hands-on experience implementing BOPIS / Buy Online Pick Up in Store
  • Hands-on experience implementing Ship from Store / Ship to Store
  • Strong technical understanding of inventory availability logic across stores, distribution centers, and fulfillment locations
  • Deep experience with Sterling OMS core components: services, agents, events, business process modeling (BPML), rules, and user exits
  • Experience leading a team of developers, conducting code reviews, and enforcing engineering best practices
  • Strong Agile/Scrum experience, including sprint planning, estimation, and technical delivery ownership
  • Experience working closely with Product Owners, architects, QA teams, and business stakeholders

Job Summary

  • The Lead Developer will work closely with the Product Owner, architects, engineering teams, QA, store operations, supply chain, and eCommerce teams.
  • Responsibilities include leading technical design and development, guiding a team of Sterling OMS developers, and driving enhancements across the IBM Sterling OMS platform.

Experience & Skill Set Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Lead Developer for IBM Sterling OMS capabilities and enhancements.
  • Own the technical design, architecture alignment, and implementation of Sterling OMS solutions.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Sterling OMS developers, providing hands-on technical guidance and code review.
  • Translate epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria from the Product Owner into detailed technical designs and development tasks.
  • Design and implement functional and technical solutions for end-to-end order lifecycle processes.
  • Partner with architects on Sterling OMS solution design, performance, and scalability.
  • Design and build complex sourcing and fulfillment logic across stores and distribution centers.
  • Develop and enhance functionality related to: Order Promising, Split Shipments, Backorders, Order Changes, Distribution Center Fulfillment
  • Build and support omnichannel fulfillment capabilities including: Home Delivery, Drop Ship
  • Lead integration development for Sterling OMS with eCommerce, ERP, WMS, inventory, payment, store, and fulfillment systems.
  • Drive sprint execution: technical grooming, estimation, development, code reviews, and demos.
  • Partner with QA teams on test scenarios, defect triage, root-cause analysis, and release readiness.
  • Analyze and resolve production issues; prioritize and fix business-critical defects.
  • Identify technical opportunities to improve order fulfillment performance, inventory utilization, and system reliability.
  • Own deployment readiness, environment management, and release coordination for Sterling OMS changes.
