Skillshot Media is recruiting local Atlanta-area talent for a project-based Live Broadcast Observer role. This is an in-person position at our Uptown Atlanta studio near the MARTA Lindbergh Center station. Engagements are booked per show based on production needs and the strength of your submission; this is not a full-time role.

Summary
The Live Broadcast Observer is responsible for driving the on-air perspective for competitive gaming and esports broadcasts. You will operate gameplay observer clients, manage wide and drone-style viewpoints, and coordinate with producers, directors, and casters to capture pivotal moments and tell clear, compelling narratives. You should be comfortable walking into a production, prioritizing tasks quickly, and executing with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Scope
  • Pre-show setup and validation of observer clients, accounts, and settings across target titles
  • Show-day operation of gameplay and wide/drone-style observer viewpoints to follow action, storylines, and key matchups
  • Real-time coordination with the director/TD, casters, and production to execute shot lists, transitions, and replays
  • Macro and control surface setup (Stream Deck) to streamline shots, scene changes, and HUD toggles
  • Communication across Discord, Google Chat, TeamSpeak, and comms panels to stay aligned on cues
  • Rapid troubleshooting of observer clients, inputs, overlays, and network/performance issues

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate gameplay observer clients at a professional level; capture key moments, rotations, and engagements
  • Execute wide/drone observer work to establish context, positioning, and map control
  • Use Stream Deck (or similar) to build and trigger macros for camera presets, overlays, and quick scene changes
  • Maintain proficiency with Discord, Google Chat (G-Chat), and TeamSpeak for production comms and coordination
  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of observer clients and tools across multiple competitive titles
  • Understand competitive games at a high level (strategy, metas, win conditions) to anticipate action and prioritize shots
  • Excel with little supervision; proactively identify what needs to happen and when, and communicate clearly
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; adapt to last-minute changes without sacrificing quality
  • Collaborate effectively with producers, directors, casters, graphics, and engineering; maintain a positive attitude and take direction
  • QC observer feeds, overlays, and HUD elements; ensure visual clarity, consistency, and timing before going live
  • Log issues encountered on-air and help implement safeguards to avoid recurrence

Key Success Indicators
  • Demonstrated experience as a gameplay observer and as a wide/drone observer in live broadcasts or esports events
  • Wide knowledge of observer clients and spectator tools across popular competitive titles
  • Proficiency with Stream Deck; comfort building macros and workflow shortcuts
  • Strong comms discipline using Discord, Google Chat, TeamSpeak, and on-set intercom
  • Proven ability to prioritize in the moment, follow rundowns, and hit cues under pressure
  • Track record of high-quality execution with minimal supervision and strong situational awareness
  • Collaborative mindset, clear communication, punctuality, and reliability
  • Passion for esports and understanding of title-specific metas and broadcast best practices
  • Familiarity with common broadcast workflows (e.g., NDI/HDMI/SDI signal basics, overlay/HUD toggles) is a plus
