Job Description

The ACL Reporting Team Lead is responsible for leading and supporting key analytical and reporting activities in support of the allowance for credit losses (ACL), including mentoring junior analysts, overseeing quarter-end allowance results reporting, and ensuring accurate journal entries and external reporting schedules.

This is an active leadership role that will drive operational process improvements and modernization initiatives across the allowance for credit loss team that support workflow efficiency, transparency of results, reduced operational risks and adherence to accounting standards.

  • Help direct junior analysts on the team and provide first line detailed reviews

  • Ensure quarter end allowance results are appropriately recorded, including overseeing journal entries, and external reporting

  • Support effective management of estimation methods pursuant to various risk management programs and ensure compliance with those policies.

Responsibilities

Specific duties include coordinating quarter-end ACL recording, preparing and reviewing provision journal entries, conducting reserve analyses for other assets, and reviewing key control schedules. The analyst provides first-line review and guidance for junior team members, supports compliance with various risk and reporting requirements, and ensures the accurate and timely completion of all related processes.

  • Effect changes to reporting data sources or methods to maintain adherence to regulatory / accounting guidance changes

  • Maintain attribution of changes and bottom-up support for quarterly ACL balances

  • Maintain documentation of CCAR methods and controls related to ACL

  • Lead communications and documentation to support design and audit of ACL process controls assigned to reporting processes

  • ACL subject matter expert for all method/EUCT compliance questions. Liaison in charge of coordinating with MRG (models), FRR (QEAs) and Credit Reporting (EUCTs) for validations, annual reviews, method changes, etc. related to methods owned by the ACL team

  • Primary method owner for select methods/EUCTs owned by the ACL team. Work with Jr analysts to maintain method documentation, including development and monitoring documents, and address validation feedback.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Typically more than eight years of applicable experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

- Considerable knowledge of regulatory and financial accounting guidance relevant to CCAR / CECL and credit expense reporting

- Effective presentation, verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups in generating credit reporting and explaining drivers of results

- Ability to assess process flows and identify key risks and risk mitigants

- Understanding of key credit performance ratios

- Knowledge of bank lending products, lending structures and risk management models

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $119,765.00 - $140,900.00
