Drag Shows information

What are some common challenges performers face when working in drag shows, and how can they prepare for them?

Performers in drag shows often encounter challenges such as managing quick costume changes, mastering makeup and styling under time constraints, and maintaining high energy during multiple performances. Additionally, adapting to different audience reactions and collaborating with fellow performers and backstage crew are essential skills. Preparation involves practicing routines, building a reliable wardrobe, and developing strong communication with the production team to ensure smooth transitions and a successful show.

How much do drag queens get paid per gig?

Drag queens typically earn between $50 and $500 per performance, depending on factors such as experience, location, event type, and audience size. Higher-profile performers or those at major events can earn significantly more, especially with tips and merchandise sales.

What is the difference between Drag Shows vs Drag Performers?

AspectDrag Shows
DefinitionEvents or performances featuring drag artists showcasing their talents, often including lip-syncing, dancing, and comedy.
Work EnvironmentVenues like clubs, theaters, or festivals where multiple performers participate in a scheduled show.
CredentialsNo formal credentials required; skills are often self-taught or learned through practice.
Industry UsageRefers to the event or production as a whole, encompassing multiple performers and acts.

Drag Shows are organized performances featuring multiple drag artists, often in entertainment venues, while Drag Performers are individual artists who perform within these shows. The show is the event, and the performer is the artist delivering the act. Understanding this distinction helps clarify the roles within the drag entertainment industry.

Do drag shows involve stripping?

Drag shows are performances where individuals dress in exaggerated gender expressions, often involving singing, dancing, and comedy. While some shows may include striptease acts, stripping is not a core or required component of all drag performances. The focus varies depending on the event and performer.

How much do drag performers make?

Drag performers' earnings vary widely depending on experience, location, and the type of performance. They typically earn between $50 and $500 per show, with some high-profile performers making more through private events, sponsorships, and merchandise. Many also supplement income through social media and branding opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Drag Performer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Drag Performer, you need strong stage presence, performance abilities (such as lip-syncing, dancing, and acting), and creativity in costume and makeup design. Familiarity with sound and lighting equipment, as well as experience in makeup artistry and costume construction, are valuable technical skills. Confidence, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills help performers engage audiences and collaborate with other artists. These skills are essential for delivering captivating performances, building a personal brand, and succeeding in the competitive entertainment industry.

What is a booger drag queen?

A booger drag queen is a performer who specializes in drag shows, often incorporating humor, exaggerated makeup, and costumes to entertain audiences. The term may refer to a specific comedic or satirical persona within the drag community, emphasizing entertainment skills and stage presence. Such performers typically require strong improvisation and performance abilities to engage viewers effectively.

What are drag shows?

Drag shows are live performances where entertainers, known as drag queens or drag kings, dress in exaggerated clothing, makeup, and personas to embody a different gender, often for entertainment, satire, or artistic expression. These shows typically feature lip-syncing, dancing, comedy, and audience interaction, and are popular in LGBTQ+ communities. Drag shows can be found in nightclubs, theaters, and at special events, celebrating diversity and self-expression.

Job description

Groundperson (Utility / ROW Tree Crew)
Build a Career in the Field โ€” Not Just a Job
Riggs Tree Service is a leading force in Right-of-Way vegetation management, running a fleet of 800+ pieces of equipment and supporting major utility operations. We do not hire just anyone โ€” we bring on hard-working, safety-driven operators who know how to perform in the field and take pride in the work. If you have experience around chainsaws, chippers, and active job sites, and you are ready to be part of a high-performance crew, we want to talk to you.
Pay Range
Wage is negotiable based on experience.
Top pay for top hands.
What Youโ€™ll Be Doing
You will be the backbone of the crew โ€” keeping operations moving safely, efficiently, and professionally.
Equipment amp; Field Operations
  • Operate and support chainsaws and chippers in active job site conditions
  • Assist with tree felling, limbing, brush handling, and debris processing
  • Set up and maintain traffic control zones and safe work areas
  • Establish and maintain drop zones for cutting operations
Safety amp; Compliance (Non-Negotiable)
  • Follow all company safety standards, PPE requirements, and job briefings
  • Identify tree hazards, environmental risks, and unsafe conditions before they become problems
  • Prevent struck-by and equipment-related incidents through proper positioning and awareness
  • Maintain familiarity with SDS manuals and first aid procedures
Chipper amp; Equipment Responsibility
  • Perform daily inspections and pre-trip checks
  • Safely start, operate, and shut down chippers per SOP
  • Handle basic maintenance such as fluids, hoses, and components
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures without exception
Crew Support
  • Drag, stack, and feed brush safely and efficiently
  • Communicate clearly with operators, climbers, and supervisors
  • Support overall crew productivity and job site flow
What Weโ€™re Looking For
We are not looking for entry-level โ€” we are looking for people who can step in and perform.
  • Hands-on experience with chainsaws and/or chippers preferred
  • Utility, tree, construction, or other heavy outdoor work experience is a plus
  • Strong understanding of job site safety and PPE requirements
  • Ability to recognize hazards and think ahead in fast-moving environments
  • Team-first mindset with the ability to take direction and execute
  • First Aid/CPR is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work daily
Benefits
Riggs Tree Service offers a competitive benefits package, which may include:
  • Health insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off
  • Paid holidays
  • Advancement opportunities
Get Paid When You Want
Tired of waiting on payday?
With Payactiv, you may be able to access your earned wages before payday.
With Payactiv, you can:
  • Access earned wages as soon as your shift ends
  • Pay bills on time
  • Avoid overdraft fees, late fees, and high-interest loans
  • Stay in control of your finances
Your money. Your schedule.
Work Environment
  • Outdoor, physically demanding work in all weather conditions
  • Fast-paced utility and ROW job sites
  • Early mornings and long days โ€” real field work
Why Riggs
  • Work with a top-tier ROW vegetation management company
  • Be part of a crew that takes safety and performance seriously
  • Opportunity to grow into operator, climber, or leadership roles
  • Consistent, real-world work โ€” not seasonal uncertainty
Bottom Line
If you are the kind of person who shows up ready to work, understands that safety is part of the job, and takes pride in doing things the right way, this is where you build something long-term.
