Job description

Drafter / Detailer

Prepare detailed drawings, for permit requirements and erection of steel buildings.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare permit drawings, which are used to assist customers in acquiring building permits. These include anchor bolt plans, details and reactions
  • Assist detailers in preparing final erection drawings, which are used to guide the steel erector in the field. These include dimensional plans to locate steel members and connection details.
  • Assist detailers in producing shop drawings for use in member assembly.

Education and Experience:

Associates degree or certificate in Auto-CAD with six months to one year experience in the drafting field.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Must possess drafting experience with 2D CAD and knowledge of 3D CAD preferred. Have a good understanding of geometry and trigonometry. Should have a basic understanding of general fabrication and engineering principles. Should possess logic and analytical abilities with excellent computer skills in Auto-CAD and Microsoft Office. Must be very detail oriented and organized.

Work Environment:

Office environment. Noise volume varies from loud to normal. Physical Demands: Sitting - 90% Walking - 5% Standing - 5%
