Coos Bay Downtown Director The Coos Bay Downtown Association (CBDA) seeks an energetic, relationship-focused leader to serve as its Downtown Director/Main Street Manager. This position is responsible for advancing the vitality, visibility, and economic success of downtown Coos Bay through business engagement, community partnerships, communications, event coordination, organizational management, and downtown revitalization initiatives.
The Downtown Director serves as the primary advocate and ambassador for downtown Coos Bay, building strong relationships with business owners, property owners, community organizations, government agencies, visitors, and residents. The position works closely with a volunteer Board of Directors, program staff, volunteers, and community partners to implement the organizationโ€™s mission, strategic priorities, and Main Street program objectives.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesBusiness Engagement & Membership Development
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with downtown businesses, property owners, community organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Recruit, retain, and support CBDA members through proactive outreach and engagement.
  • Serve as a resource and connector between businesses, community partners, funding opportunities, and available resources.
  • Support business growth, retention, recruitment, and economic vitality initiatives within the downtown district.
  • Represent and advocate for downtown interests in public meetings, community forums, and regional initiatives.
Communications, Marketing & Public Relations
  • Lead all organizational communications, marketing, and promotional efforts.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent and positive public image for downtown Coos Bay and the CBDA.
  • Demonstrate proficiency across a variety of communication platforms and audiences, including:
    • One-on-one communication and relationship building
    • Public speaking and group presentations
    • Community outreach and stakeholder engagement
    • Social media management and digital marketing
    • Website development and content management
    • Press releases and media relations
    • Graphic design and visual communications
    • Email marketing and newsletters
    • Photography, videography, and storytelling
  • Promote downtown businesses, events, programs, and initiatives through effective marketing campaigns and public engagement.
Community Collaboration & Events

  • Foster partnerships with local governments, tourism organizations, nonprofits, and business groups.

Organizational & Program Management
  • Maintain regular weekly office hours and serve as an accessible point of contact for members, businesses, visitors, partners, and the public.
  • Manage day-to-day office operations, including visitor services, correspondence, phone calls, recordkeeping, and administrative functions.
  • Work collaboratively with program staff, contractors, volunteers, committees, and community partners to advance organizational goals.
  • Support and engage a volunteer Board of Directors through meeting coordination, reporting, project implementation, and ongoing communication.
  • Coordinate volunteer participation in events, committees, and downtown improvement efforts.
  • Manage organizational budgets and finances in coordination with the Board Treasurer.
  • Oversee grant administration, reporting requirements, and compliance obligations.
  • Lead and support participation in the Oregon Main Street Program and related revitalization initiatives.
  • Track, measure, and communicate organizational outcomes, including membership growth, business participation, investment activity, and program performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

Wage and Benefits:
