Job Title: Banquet Captain / Food & Beverage Supervisor
Property: DoubleTree by Hilton

Reports To: Director of Food & Beverage / Food & Beverage Manager
Classification: Hourly / Supervisor
Pay Range: $19–$22 per hour (DOE) + eligibility for incentive

Position Summary
The Banquet Captain serves as a Food & Beverage Supervisor responsible for leading banquet event execution while supporting restaurant and outlet operations as business needs dictate. This role ensures exceptional guest service, efficient event flow, team leadership, and adherence to Hilton brand standards, operational procedures, and safety guidelines. The Captain is accountable for supervising service staff, maintaining service quality, and supporting operational performance across all Food & Beverage outlets.

Key Responsibilities

Banquet & Event Leadership

  • Lead on-site execution of banquet and catered events, ensuring timelines, service standards, and event specifications are met
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during events, resolving guest or client concerns in real time
  • Conduct pre-event briefings and post-event recaps with service teams
  • Ensure accurate setup, service pacing, breakdown, and room reset per event orders
  • Partner with Culinary, Sales, and Event Services to deliver seamless event execution

Supervisory & Leadership Duties

  • Supervise banquet, restaurant, and outlet staff based on business volume and scheduling needs
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to team members
  • Monitor staff appearance, service standards, and adherence to policies
  • Assist with scheduling, coverage planning, and labor management
  • Support progressive discipline and performance accountability in alignment with company policy

Outlet & Cross-Operational Support

  • Assist in supervising restaurant, bar, and other Food & Beverage outlets as business dictates
  • Step into floor leadership roles to maintain service flow, guest satisfaction, and operational efficiency
  • Support peak service periods and special events across outlets

Guest Experience & Service Excellence

  • Deliver a consistent, elevated guest experience aligned with Hilton service standards
  • Anticipate guest needs and resolve concerns promptly and professionally
  • Promote hospitality, professionalism, and service storytelling within the team
  • Support guest recovery efforts and maintain high guest satisfaction scores

Operational & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, alcohol service, and health regulations
  • Monitor inventory, equipment use, and event supplies
  • Verify event billing accuracy, gratuities, and service charge execution
  • Assist with departmental reporting, labor tracking, and operational documentation
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety in event and service spaces

Financial & Business Awareness

  • Support labor efficiency and cost controls during events and outlet shifts
  • Protect revenue through accurate billing, cash handling, and POS compliance
  • Assist leadership in maximizing revenue opportunities through upselling and guest engagement


Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Food & Beverage or banquet leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of banquet service standards and event execution
  • Proven ability to lead teams in fast-paced, guest-focused environments
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to supervise multiple outlets and service areas as needed
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

  • TIPS or alcohol awareness training
  • ServSafe Food Protection certification
  • Previous supervisory experience in a hotel or full-service hospitality environment

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with event setup and breakdown
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced event and service environments
