About McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation
McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation works to inspire charitable giving that enhances health care for patients and communities served by McLaren Northern Michigan. Our philanthropy team partners with generous donors to support advanced equipment and technology, patient programs, medical education, and other important initiatives across McLaren Northern Michigan.
The Philanthropy Officer-Database plays an important role in supporting this work by helping our team make the most of the information available through Blackbaud Raiser's Edge, our donor database. This position supports gift processing and data entry while taking the lead on creating and generating reports, data exports and targeted donor lists that help our fundraisers work more effectively.
Working closely with philanthropy officers and other Foundation staff, this individual will help turn donor data into useful information-identifying trends and opportunities, developing lists for fundraising outreach and helping determine how data can be used to strengthen fundraising performance.
The Philanthropy Database Officer will also serve as our primary liaison with Blackbaud, staying current on new Raiser's Edge features and tools and helping ensure the Foundation is taking full advantage of the capabilities available to us.
Previous Raiser's Edge experience is helpful but not required. This is not a programming or IT position. We are looking for a motivated learner who is comfortable working with data, enjoys problem-solving, pays attention to detail and is excited to develop new skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Runs reports, queries and data exports from Raiser's Edge to support fundraising and Foundation operations.
  • Creates targeted donor and prospect lists for appeals, events, stewardship and fundraiser outreach.
  • Conducts donor research using Blackbaud and external tools.
  • Partners with philanthropy officers to use donor data to identify opportunities and strengthen fundraising performance.
  • Supports accurate and timely gift processing, data entry and maintenance of donor records.
  • Helps maintain the accuracy, consistency and integrity of information within Raiser's Edge.
  • Serves as the Foundation's liaison with Blackbaud and stays current on new features, tools and best practices.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve how the Foundation uses Raiser's Edge and other Blackbaud tools.
  • Provides day-to-day database support and assistance to Foundation staff.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • Associate degree in Information Technologies, Business Administration or similar relevant field, or high school diploma and minimum of 2 years of directly related experience in working in the operations and administration of foundation or fundraising databases.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technologies, Business Administration
  • Experience with donor tracking software.
  • Experience in a non-profit or healthcare fundraising setting.
