Job Summary

This role develops policy, methods, procedures and training for system protection and electrical equipment technicians performing operations, maintenance, construction, and emergency activities within transmission and distribution substations, fossil and hydro power stations and non-traditional work. Provides single point of contact and oversight for all electric transmission and delivery activities within the boundaries of a fossil and/or hydro power station facility. Approves NERC compliance maintenance policies for substation equipment and system protection. Determines root cause of electrical disturbances within company and identifies and resolves protection deficiencies to improve reliability of system electrical grid. Develops electrical equipment, protection specifications, determines vendor expectations and evaluates and approves protective relays and equipment. Develops, maintains and provides status reports of protection projects and expenditures issued under projects and stores maintenance budget. Provides technical support and coordinates resource support for field technical groups. Provides specialized testing and technical support analysis for TandD system including generation technical support. Determines spare and emergency relay stock levels, calibrates and procures test equipment, etc. Represents Dominion and supports industry technical groups for substation or system protection activities.

Responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of Transmission Substation Operations, ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance and operation of transmission substation assets. Leads substation testing, diagnostics, maintenance, compliance, and emergency response activities. Promotes Dominion Energy's safety-first culture through adherence to approved work methods and standards while driving accountability, employee engagement, and continuous improvement. Provides technical leadership for transformer, circuit breaker, battery, and substation equipment programs supporting system reliability and grid resiliency. Oversees workforce development, budgets, compliance programs, environmental stewardship, and asset performance, while partnering with Engineering, Asset Management, Substation, and field organizations to improve transmission system reliability.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

10+ years of relevant experience with Bachelor's degree in a related discipline; or 12+ years of relevant experience with related Associate's degree; or 14+ years of relevant experience with High School Diploma/GED.

Full knowledge of engineering principles, business/management and their general applications.

Thorough knowledge of protection design/operations, and supporting theories and applications.

Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, demonstrated leadership and management, time management and organization.

Abilities: problem resolution, conceptual thinking, understanding of company strategic objectives, handle emergency situations.

The expected hiring base salary range is the range we anticipate hiring within for this position.
