Job Description
  • Operate compressors, pumps, pulverizers, boilers, turbine generators, switchyard equipment and additional auxiliary equipment to produce electricity, potable water, smelting steam, and high temperature water for consumption in the smelting plant. A Power Plant Operator controls the generation of electricity of electrical power by operating and maintaining fuel systems such as ash, demineralizer and others, to ensure the smelter operation is continuously receiving the necessary electrical power to produce aluminum.
  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED with 3 years full-time light to heavy industrial or power industry work experience and ability to perform physically demanding work activities. Must be able to do shift work including weekends.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ideal candidates should have experience in fuel systems, boilers, turbines, electrostatic, precipitators, condensate systems, feed water systems, high voltage switching, along with monitoring and maintaining the above systems. The Power Plant Operator must also be able to perform the other essential functions of the position.
