Reports To: Operations Supervisor

Location of job: Lakeside, SD

Hourly Pay Range: $26.00 to   $ 28.00 per hour

Classification: Non-Exempt

Company Description

SD OpCO LLC partners with local dairy farmers, state, and federal agencies, providing a sustainable energy source that benefits the dairy, the company, and actively reduces greenhouse gases emitted to the atmosphere.

Position Summary

The Plant Operator will be responsible for operating, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the biogas facility and its processes. This role involves technical oversight of plant operations, ensuring compliance with state regulations. Reporting to the Supervisor. The Plant Operator works independently and plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the facility. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Position Responsibilities

  • Operate and troubleshooting facility systems.
  • Conduct daily checks, walkthroughs, and facility monitoring.
  • Perform sampling, testing, and analysis to ensure optimal plant performance.
  • Install, maintain, and repair plant and pump station components.
  • Assist with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs of plant equipment.
  • Respond to emergencies and breakdowns on-site and at pump stations.
  • Conduct weekend checks of the treatment plant on a rotating basis.
  • Ensure all work complies with OSHA safety regulations.
  • Maintain open communication with the Supervisor regarding plant operations and malfunctions.
  • Actively participate in the plant safety program.
  • Utilize CMMS software to track work orders and maintenance requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Background in industrial/gas processing maintenance or relevant military training preferred.
  • Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with safety procedures and practices.
  • Adaptability: Ability to respond quickly to changing conditions.
  • Proficient in Windows-based applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Other Requirements: Valid SD driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.

 

Working Conditions

Work locations are industrial and agricultural, primarily outdoors in northern South Dakota. Temperatures range from -40 deg F in the winter to 110 deg F in the summer. Limited exposure to hazardous materials and/or toxic fumes will require the use of approved personal protective equipment. Regular exposure to cold, heat, noise, flammable materials, rotating equipment, and other conditions normally encountered in an industrial environment should be expected. SD OpCo will ensure all applicable work rules and safety requirements are closely adhered to. This position will require heavy lifting (<50 lbs) and/or climbing ladder and/or stairs.  


Work Schedule: On-call rotating weekends
