This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing revitalization of Baltimore by helping to deliver safe, affordable, and high-quality housing. The In-House Mechanic will play a key role in maintaining and improving the functionality, safety, and quality of Dominion’s residential property portfolio. This individual will report to the Director of Property Operations.

Your Impact:
  • Ensure Dominion’s residential properties are safe, functional, and well maintained through reliable electrical and plumbing repairs
  • Support renovation and maintenance projects that improve the quality and longevity of our housing portfolio
  • Diagnose and resolve issues quickly to minimize downtime and disruption for tenants and project timelines
  • Contribute to efficient property operations by maintaining high workmanship standards and completing tasks on schedule

Daily Tasks:
  • Perform electrical repairs including outlet replacements, fixture installations, breaker troubleshooting, and light wiring work
  • Perform plumbing repairs including leak repairs, fixture replacements, toilet and faucet installations, and drain troubleshooting
  • Diagnose electrical and plumbing issues within residential homes and determine effective repair solutions
  • Complete punch list items during property renovations and turnover projects
  • Install or replace light fixtures, switches, garbage disposals, sinks, and water fixtures
  • Assist with minor HVAC-related tasks when needed (thermostats, basic troubleshooting)
  • Ensure all work meets safety standards and local building codes
  • Maintain tools, materials, and workspaces in an organized and professional manner
  • Communicate repair updates and project progress with the property operations team

Requirements:
  • Previous experience performing residential electrical and plumbing repairs or maintenance
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose common residential repair issues
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing systems, and general residential construction
  • Ability to complete punch-out and maintenance tasks with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple repair tasks across properties
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to quality workmanship

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Trade school education or relevant certifications in electrical, plumbing, or general construction
