What is dog modeling?

Dog modeling is a specialized field where dogs are trained and photographed or filmed for advertisements, commercials, magazines, television shows, movies, or product campaigns. These canine models showcase products such as pet food, accessories, or clothing, and often work with professional trainers and handlers to perform specific tasks or poses. Success in dog modeling often depends on a dog's appearance, temperament, obedience, and ability to follow commands. Dog models may be represented by animal talent agencies and can participate in casting calls for various projects.

How much do dog models get paid?

Dog models typically earn between $50 and $200 per hour, depending on the project, the dog's experience, and the market. Rates can vary for commercial, print, or runway work, and some models are paid per assignment or on a royalty basis.

What is the 7 7 7 rule for dogs?

The 7 7 7 rule for dogs is a guideline used in dog modeling and training that suggests a dog should be at least 7 months old, weigh around 7 kilograms, and be comfortable in 7 different environments or situations. This helps ensure the dog is mature, adaptable, and suitable for various modeling assignments. Proper socialization, training, and temperament are essential for success in dog modeling careers.

How to get into dog modelling?

To become a dog model, ensure your dog has a good temperament, is well-trained, and has a healthy appearance. Building a portfolio with high-quality photos and contacting modeling agencies or brands that specialize in pet advertising can help you find opportunities in the industry.

What are some common challenges dog models and their handlers face during photo shoots and how can they be overcome?

Dog modeling often involves unpredictable situations, such as distractions on set, unfamiliar environments, or difficulty getting the dog to pose as needed. Handlers can address these challenges by ensuring their dog is well-trained in basic commands, gradually exposing them to different environments, and bringing familiar toys or treats to maintain focus and motivation. Patience and positive reinforcement are key, and collaborating closely with the photographer and crew helps create a calm, productive atmosphere for the dog.

How can I get my dog to become a model?

To help your dog become a model, ensure they have good temperament, are well-trained, and comfortable around people and cameras. Building a professional portfolio with high-quality photos and working with reputable pet talent agencies can increase opportunities in the industry.

Job description

Description:

Scenthound is a revolutionary, fast-growing wellness-focused dog care concept. We aren't your typical traditional grooming shopโ€”we focus on routine care and preventative hygiene (Skin, Coat, Ears, Nails, Teeth - our S.C.E.N.T. Check) to keep dogs healthy and happy. We are expanding and opening a brand-new "Scenter" in South Denton located in the Hickory Creek Plaza, next to Kroger. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, high-energy leader to build our pack from the ground up and grow with our team!

Position Overview:

As the Scenter Manager, you will be the driving force behind the success of this brand-new location. Ultimately, you will have operational and P&L responsibility for the Scenter. You will oversee safety standards, client experiences, schedule utilization, inventory management, and the continuous coaching and career pathing of your team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Scenter Profitability & Growth: Manage and optimize all Scenter Scorecard KPIs, including member retention, trial conversions, rebook rates, and service/product add-on sales.
  • Safety & Compliance leadership: Maintain strict adherence to all Scenthound safety protocols. Conduct daily Scenter Safety Walkthroughs to ensure a double-barrier environment, proper tool handling, and accurate canine stress-response evaluation.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead engaging and impactful "Daily Huddles." Manage career progression pathways for your Front-of-Scenter (FoS) and Back-of-Scenter (BoS) teams using our structured skill maps.
  • Operations & Schedule Optimization: Oversee daily schedule management in MyTime, handle payroll, review daily room checklists, audit cash handling, and manage pending membership cancellation or pause requests.
  • Customer Experience: Act as the primary point of escalation for customer service issues, ensuring a reliable, trust-building environment for our dog parents.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Experience: 2โ€“4 years of successful management experience in retail, fitness, hospitality, or service industries (membership-based sales models or pet-care industry experience is a major plus).
  • Sales Acumen: Proven track record of hitting sales targets, overcoming objections, and executing local community outreach.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong ability to recruit, motivate, and hold a diverse team accountable to performance and brand standards.
  • Dog Loving: Comfortable handling dogs of all sizes and breeds, and deeply committed to animal health and wellness.
  • Technical Savvy: Proficiency in cloud-based booking software (MyTime experience is a plus), CRM lead-management tools, and basic dashboard metrics.
  • Operational Excellence: Exceptionally organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing administrative tasks (scheduling, ordering, inventory) alongside hands-on floor leadership.
What We Offer:
  • Competitive starting base salary of $50,000.
  • Uncapped incentive bonus structure tied directly to key performance metrics (Membership growth, Trial conversions, and Scenter Profitability).
  • Career advancement opportunities within a rapidly expanding brand.
  • Discounts on Scenthound services and products for your own furry family members.

Are you ready to lead the pack in South Denton? Apply today!

Requirements:Experience & Professional Qualifications
  • Management Experience: 2 to 4 years of successful management or supervisory experience in retail, fitness, hospitality, or service industries.
  • Sales Background: Proven track record of hitting sales goals and executing local/grassroots community outreach (experience with membership-based business models is a major plus).
  • Recruiting & Leadership: Demonstrated ability to source, interview, hire, and build a high-performing team from scratch.
  • Technical Savvy: Proficiency in using cloud-based booking and point-of-sale software (such as MyTime) and CRM lead-management tools.
  • Business Operations: Solid understanding of business dashboards, tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and driving overall store profitability.

Physical & Personal Requirements

  • Dog Lover: Must be completely comfortable handling and managing dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments.
  • Hands-on Approach: Willingness to be present on the floor, stepping in to support both the front desk and bathing areas during high-volume periods.
  • Organization: Exceptionally strong time-management skills with the ability to balance heavy administrative duties alongside active team leadership.
