How much do dog modeling jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 5, 2026, the average hourly pay for dog modeling in the United States is $32.96, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $14.18 and $46.63 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Dog Model, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Dog Model, dogs typically need basic obedience training, a calm temperament, and the ability to follow commands, while handlers should have experience in animal handling and training. Familiarity with photo or film set environments, experience with props and costumes, and sometimes certifications in obedience or therapy work are valuable. A standout dog model exhibits patience, sociability, and adaptability to new and potentially distracting situations. These skills and qualities ensure the dog can perform reliably in diverse settings, which is essential for successful photoshoots, commercials, or events.

What are some common challenges dog models and their handlers face during photo shoots and how can they be overcome?

Dog modeling often involves unpredictable situations, such as distractions on set, unfamiliar environments, or difficulty getting the dog to pose as needed. Handlers can address these challenges by ensuring their dog is well-trained in basic commands, gradually exposing them to different environments, and bringing familiar toys or treats to maintain focus and motivation. Patience and positive reinforcement are key, and collaborating closely with the photographer and crew helps create a calm, productive atmosphere for the dog.

What is dog modeling?

Dog modeling is a specialized field where dogs are trained and photographed or filmed for advertisements, commercials, magazines, television shows, movies, or product campaigns. These canine models showcase products such as pet food, accessories, or clothing, and often work with professional trainers and handlers to perform specific tasks or poses. Success in dog modeling often depends on a dog's appearance, temperament, obedience, and ability to follow commands. Dog models may be represented by animal talent agencies and can participate in casting calls for various projects.

Job description

NOW HIRING TEAM MEMBERS!

About The Job:

Our Team Members provide dog walking & adventure services in Winston Salem, NC, for the Venture Dog Walking client-base.

About Us:

We look for people who are team-oriented. Who LOVE the idea of spending their days snuggling all the pups, spending time outside, and providing care that keeps our clients bragging about using our services. Who are through-and-through genuinely kind people who love loving on other people’s pets. Who are people of integrity and authenticity.

We don’t mince words when we describe this position because our team cares for the thing that people love the most in the world (their dogs!). So in that spirit:

  • You must be good at managing details. We personalize our client’s care to their dogs exact needs. We have a lot of instructions for each and every dog/cat/lizard/etc that we work with, and you have to be able to follow those instructions to the letter.

  • You need to have good intuition with animals and genuinely love them. We work with lots of different kinds of pets, from very big to very small. And while we provide the training, you must bring to the table a confidence in working with animals and a demonstrated ability to do so.

  • You need to have excellent time management skills. On average, our employees do 8-10 appointments a day, and these appointments are most often scheduled back-to-back. You have to be able to manage your time well.

  • You must be able to communicate well, both in written form and spoken. We are in the business of giving people peace of mind, and we expect a high degree of clarity in communication in our updates to clients.

  • You must be the kind of person that apologizes freely and quickly if you need to, and to be on-board with this type of culture. We are the kind of business that prioritizes amazing customer service above all else, and good customer service means that we are quick to apologize if needed.

  • You must be a person of integrity and honesty. Our core values are connection, care, concern, and consistency. These must be characteristics that you already live in your day to day life.

  • You must have a clean background check, clean driving check, a working personal vehicle and auto insurance, and a smart phone.

About Who We Hire:

We look for people who are ready to make a change, and need a supportive work environment to do so. You may be an entrepreneur, a creative, a recent student, a soon-to-be student, a person changing careers, or someone who wants to take a step back to evaluate and needs a soft landing while you do it.

We want to be the best job you ever had while you look for whatever your next step is. On average our people stay with us for at least 6-18 months while they figure out their next step. We make the most out of that time together, ensuring that when you leave you are ready to jump start into the next right thing. We also have a lot of fun along the way with an awesome team culture of people cheering each other on.

The Details:

Our Team Member positions on average start at 15 to 25 hours a week. We have a culture of helping out team members and encouraging team members to pick up extra hours as wanted and needed, so up to 35 hours a week is absolutely possible, if desired.

Our days and hours of service are Monday through Sunday 9 am to 4 pm, so applicants must have available time during that window. All time (including drive time between appointments) is paid time on the clock.

Compensation is between $13.50-$15 an hour, with the ability to grow in your position up to $15-$17 an hour. All positions are part-time W2 employee positions. We offer a tip pool for our employees as well as partial mileage reimbursement!

Applicants must be able to pass a clean background and driving check. For liability reasons, we require that all applicants are 18 or older.

A final, but VERY important note!

This is a physical job. It requires the ability to walk multiple miles a day, to work with high energy dogs, and to also walk two dogs at a time.

As an example: if the idea of walking a 90 pound German Shepherd who may be a bit on the ~ energetic ~ side because they love their walkies so much sounds like a lovely afternoon for you (which it does to us!) then chances are this job is a great fit for you. If what we just described sounds scary and un-fun to you, please just be our friend instead. We are a big fan of you either way!

IF THIS ALL SOUNDS LIKE YOU, WE’D LOVE TO CONNECT WITH YOU ABOUT JOINING OUR TEAM.
