POSITION SUMMARY

Designed specifically for active military service members, Newrez's DoD SkillBridge Fellowship enables transitioning service members to gain civilian work experience with a leading mortgage lender while learning how to transfer their skills to a corporate setting. You dedicated yourself to protecting our Country, begin your next mission with Newrez helping people achieve the American Dream of Homeownership.

A Junior Mortgage Consultant SkillBridge Fellow can expect to learn the tools needed to become a successful Mortgage Consultant. With the help of our dedicated instructors, study for the SAFE MLO Test, a standardized test required for licensure. After successfully passing the exam, our Sales Coaches will continue training on effectively converting in-house leads into borrowers, using our proprietary software, taking mortgage applications, and so much more!

After successful completion of our DoD SkillBridge Fellowship, candidate can expect to be a Mortgage Consultant with an organization that is nationally recognized as a top Military Friendly Company and Brand.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage with consumers, determine their needs, and offer the appropriate product.

  • Take mortgage loan applications by phone and prepare effective loan proposals.

  • Provide superior customer service.

  • Meet monthly production goals.

  • Stay informed of developing trends in the mortgage industry.

  • Performs assigned duties, under direction of experienced personnel, to gain knowledge and experience required. These duties will involve Homeowner interface and decisioning in real world account management scenarios.

  • Develops a detailed understanding of our customer base.

  • Understands the competitive nature and marketplace of our business.

  • Develops a detailed understanding of the strategies and tactics we use to market to customers.

  • Receives training and performs duties in several functions in order to become familiar with line and staff functions, management viewpoints, company policies, and best practices.

  • Observes experienced workers to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards required for performance of departmental duties.

  • Will be required to attend company sponsored training classes and attain certain certifications.

  • Performs related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be current active duty military service member.

  • Received Unit Commander written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of program October 5, 2026.

  • Approved to complete 90-day SkillBridge Fellowship in Coppell, TX.

  • Sales experience preferred.

  • Ability to pass a background check required for state licensing.
