Lunar Outpost,an industry leader in spacesystems throughout the Earth Moon systemis seeking aBusiness Development Engineer focused on U.S. Department of Defense space programsto help expand ourcompanysimpactinestablishingUnited States space capabilities.


This role sits at the intersection ofengineering, customer engagement, proposaldevelopmentand capture management, driving new businessfor Lunar OutpostacrossU.S. Space Force, Space Development Agency, Missile Defense Agency, and related DoD organizations. You will help position Lunar Outposts spacecraft systems, autonomy software, and mission operations platforms for next-generationnational securityspace missions.

Key Responsibilities:


Capture & Proposal Leadership:

  • Lead and support capture effortsto secure new contracts, recompete existing contracts, andmaintainpositive business relationships.This includes writing proposals andsubmittingbids to the DoDand private companies to secure new contractsand partnerships relatedtoDoD space programs.
  • Analyze solicitations (RFPs, RFIs, BAAs, OTAs) and translate customer requirements intocompliant, technically differentiated proposals
  • Develop win strategies andcompetitive positioning aligned to mission needs and customer priorities


Customer Engagement & Market Development:

  • Build andmaintainrelationships with stakeholders acrossUSSF, SDA, MDA, SSC,and other agencies
  • Shape opportunities by engagingDoDprogram officesto refine requirements andidentify future needs
  • Track and analyze DoD space programs, budgets, and acquisition pathways (IDIQs, OTAs, SBIR/STTR)
  • Engagewith industry partnersand internal personnel to enhance the probability of capture success
  • Support pipeline development and qualification of opportunities aligned with Lunar Outposts strategy
  • Represent Lunar Outpost at conferences, industry days, and customer engagements to evangelize technical capabilities


Technical Solution Development:

  • Perform end-to-end engineering work for small research and development programs as they relate to capture efforts
  • Contribute as a technical lead during captureand proposal development -developing architectures, concepts of operations, and system trade studies.


Cross-Functional Leadership:

  • Coordinate across engineering, programmanagementand BDto deliver compelling and executableproposals
  • Drive disciplined capture processes- own or contribute to proposal volumes (technical, management, cost) and coordinate color team reviews, schedules, and compliance


Strategy & Growth:

  • Identifyadjacent markets and follow-on opportunities to expand Lunar Outposts presence in national security space

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM field
  • 4+ years of experience inDoD business development, capture, or proposal engineering(Aerospace or DoD field)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading proposals and capture efforts for U.S. Government contracts
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes and regulations (FAR/DFARS)
  • Strong technical background in spacecraft systemsor mission operations (hardware and/or software)
  • Ability to translate complex technical solutions intoclear, compelling proposal content
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; highly organized and deadline-driven
  • Self-starter capable of operating in a fast-paced, startup environment
  • U.S. Person (ability to obtain andmaintaina security clearance)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of space mission areas such as:
  • Missile warning / missile tracking
  • Space domain awareness
  • Proliferated LEO constellations
  • Space battle management / C2 architectures
  • Cislunar space operations
  • Existing network within DoD space community (government, FFRDCs, primes)
  • Experience with CRM/pipeline tools (e.g., GovWin)
